The Major League Baseball Innovation & Ventures group is responsible for sourcing and evaluating third-party technology opportunities for the Commissioner’s office and its member Clubs. Areas of interest include broadcast technology, Statcast, ticketing, mobile app and web development, streaming and cloud infrastructure and edge areas like gaming, VR and AR. Members of the Innovation & Ventures group work directly with colleagues across the Commissioner's Office and regularly interact with start-ups and investors.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Passionate about baseball, start-ups and the venture capital industry
- Comfortable with ambiguity and an eagerness to learn and take on new projects
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and research experience
- Strong academic performance
- Preference for individuals with prior experience at a sports league, team or service provider
Example Responsibilities:
- Industry, category or business unit research projects
- In-person or virtual meetings with start-up founders and executives
- Proactive outreach to start-ups relevant for MLB’s needs
- Management of start-up prospect database
- Ad Hoc projects for MLB groups and/or MLB portfolio companies
