Block is a renovation platform transforming the $400 billion renovation industry. Today, doing a home renovation is an abysmal consumer experience and not easy for contractors either. Block democratizes access to high-end design, while combining design, construction, and materials into a streamlined experience. Block simplifies a complex and convoluted process and gives homeowners certainty on outcomes, quality, price, and time.

Our mission is to give homeowners a better way to improve the spaces they live in, and to give contractors a better way to work. We are building an ambitious, tenacious, and creative team who is unafraid of tackling new challenges. The founders are former leaders at Casper, HuffPost, and Rent the Runway. Investors include New Enterprise Associates, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Obvious Ventures, and more.

This role is for someone who wants to be part of an exciting start-up, solving complicated challenges that touch everyday consumers. Our rapid design process will allow you to see projects through from conceptual design to build completion. In addition to working directly with our experienced team of designers and architects, you will be interfacing with all functions across the business including constructions, sale, operations, procurement and digital product.

We are looking for a passionate, adaptable, and motivated interior/architectural designer who can think strategically while also helping us execute on client projects and overall design operations.

Responsibilities include:

esCreate design assets (models, renders, plans), client presentations and procurement schedules for active projects

  • Coordinate drawings and details, both for ongoing projects and to improve the overall Block process
  • Implement processes that help the team improve productivity and achieve monthly goals
  • Develop creative and fun ways for clients to experience our library of products, materials and finishes

Requirements:

  • An architectural degree or education is a plus but not required
  • Fluency in Rhino, SketchUp, AutoCAD, V-Ray and Adobe Creative Suite is a must
  • No task is too small attitude and willingness to take any project on
  • Self-motivated, energetic, highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable and familiar with Google Suite and Google Sheets (excel)

Benefits:

  • Vacation days and company holidays
  • Exposure to work alongside an ambitious, kind, no-drama team, consisting of early employees of some of the biggest and most successful technology companies (ClassPass, Rent the Runway, Casper, Tesla and more)

Company Values

  • Force simplicity
  • Problems are our fuel
  • Collaborate with tenacity and humility
  • Save money where we should
  • Speed is our advantage
