Data Operations Intern
Citi Bike is looking for an Data Operations Intern to join our Operations Strategy team. As a Data Operations Intern, you’ll be tackling unique challenges facing a budding industry alongside fellow transportation enthusiasts and cyclists to help drive internal operations, technical and business decisions and customer engagement.
About Citi Bike
Bicycle sharing is a convenient, flexible, healthy and fun transportation option that enhances urban livability and mobility. Headquartered in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Citi Bike is the nation’s largest bike share system. They are responsible for every aspect of the bike share program, from repairing and rebalancing bikes, to maintaining the stations and docking points, to marketing the program and educating people about bike share. Currently, Citi Bike will be manages a fleet of over 12,000 bikes.
Citi Bike’s parent company, Motivate Co., also oversees additional bike share programs in Boston, DC, Chicago, Bay Area, Jersey City, and Portland, OR.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and measure the impact of creative incentives to keep Citi Bike bicycles in good maintenance and stations properly balanced
- Build out reporting metrics for numerous internal and external dependencies
- Develop tools to help integrate data into day-to-day operations decisions from a variety of sources
- Gather insights from system data to inform decisions across departments
Requirements
- Working towards a degree in Environmental or Urban Studies, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Transportation, Economics, or similar
- Comfortable working with large datasets and familiar with database design
- Working knowledge of: Excel, SQL, Python, R, JavaScript, MapBox and/or CartoDB, D3.js
- Adept working across data analytics and operational strategy environments
- Excellent organization and time management skills; must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and take initiative to solve problems and complete tasks as they arise
- Passionate about bike share and transportation!
