Overview

The New York Daily News is now looking for enthusiastic college students who are ready to learn the exhilarating, vital world of journalism from inside the city’s most vibrant news organization. This is an intensive program offers hands-on experience and training in a dynamic newsroom setting during the Fall 2018 semester.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time on the field covering breaking news, crime, disaster, and human interest pieces.
  • Conduct interviews, transcribe notes, and work with library team on fact-checking.
  • Develop leads
  • Write and edit content
  • Conduct research as needed for the Daily News team

 

Interns will gain valuable skills in writing, editing, and research throughout their time with the Daily News. By conducting their own interviews, interns will gain greater communications skills and develop tactics for leading successful interviews. Interns will get hands-on exposure to the workings of a news team and will leave with a greater understanding of how places like the Daily News structure their teams and workflow.

 

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have completed basic journalism courses, have some experience working for a campus newspaper or off-campus publication, or have completed a previous media internship. We prefer juniors, seniors, and graduate students.
