Legal Intern
The Team: The Legal team supports Datadog's rapid growth by providing a wide range of legal services across a highly dynamic technology company, from driving new business via contracts and compliance efforts, to protecting Datadog's intellectual property. Datadog's Legal team works with virtually every team across the organization, from engineering to product to marketing.
The Opportunity: As an Intern on Datadog's Legal team, you will work closely with lawyers around the world on a variety of legal issues, including in the areas of employment, intellectual property, product, commercial transactions, general corporate law, and privacy. You will collaborate with members of Datadog’s Legal team on projects designed to give you real-world, practical in-house experience with a global legal department. All internships are paid. Please note that we will not extend full time employment offers to our legal intern after the completion of our internship program. While we expect this internship to be a professionally rewarding experience, candidates should not expect that it will result in an offer of full-time post-graduation employment.
You Will:
- Review non-disclosure agreements, master subscription agreements, data processing agreements and various vendor-related agreements and participate in the negotiation of each in an effort to efficiently close deals
- Research best-practices and conduct analyses for various legal issues relating to such topics as SaaS offerings, cloud computing, global contracting, employment, government contracting, data protection and privacy, intellectual property and marketing.
- Assist with various compliance projects related to proxy statements, and environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG)
- Research for and prepare presentations and training for business colleagues relating to such topics as SaaS offerings, cloud computing, global contracting, employment, government contracting, data protection and privacy, intellectual property and marketing.
You Are:
- Currently completing 1st or 2nd year of a JD degree at an ABA accredited law school
- Experienced or interested in intellectual property, product development, mergers & acquisitions, data protection and privacy, commercial transactions, compliance, SaaS, and marketing
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Google Workspace
- Able to work proactively as well as collaboratively
- Someone with good analytical and problem-solving skills, and with good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

The Legal team is flexible with respect to start and end dates in order to accommodate academic calendars, and we will work with you to ensure you do not miss any of the larger Datadog-wide intern events.
