* This is a full-time summer internship in New York City. Latch is unable to provide summer housing or a relocation stipend for summer interns. Additionally, interns must be able to commit to working full-time over the summer, 40 hours/week. *

Latch is hiring a Manufacturing Intern for our Manufacturing Team to be an integral part of Latch’s building of our smart access control products. As a Manufacturing Intern, you’ll work to design reliable electromechanical test fixtures, and solve operational issues through mechanical design. You’ll work with our manufacturing leaders and be aligned on all test specifications and expectations for our production line.

The engineering team works in a fast-paced and highly-challenging environment, which means that as an intern at Latch, you’ll be given real projects that greatly impact the future of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute new processes to streamline production
  • Optimize existing processes by sourcing new equipment
  • Analyze production data and build out metrics 
  • Manage and troubleshoot failed devices from the production line
  • Support NPI programs through various stages of phase-gate process through cycle testing 
  • Support mechanical design and development of test and prototype fixtures 
  • Maintain fixtures for manual testing, integrate automation when available
  • Collaboratively develop manufacturing line equipment with internal and external teams
  • Generate and organize technical documentation

Qualifications:

  • You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field (preference for those graduating Winter 2020 or Spring 2021)
  • Analytical, organized, and process-oriented
  • Familiarity with CAD software, 3D printing and prototyping experience a plus 
  • Familiarity with electronics (Arduinos and basic soldering skills) a plus
