Product Manager, Internal Tools
Teachable is looking for a Product Manager to join our Internal Tools team and help our employees support thousands of business owners as they convert their knowledge into income.
The Teachable platform empowers independent business owners to productize their knowledge through online courses and coaching. We put almost $1.5M in the pockets of small businesses and solopreneurs every single day.
The Internal Tools PM combines aspects of traditional product management, design, and strong technical acumen. You will be responsible for ensuring that we’re shipping outstanding tools and experiences for internal users that are purpose-built to match their needs.
Our development teams are structured into cross-functional Product Engineering pods each consisting of 3-5 engineers and 3 pod leads: An Engineering Lead, a Product Manager, and a Product Designer.
The pod leads are collectively responsible for executing on the pod’s mission. The Product Manager’s main responsibility is in reaching crystal clear clarity into how we can best serve our customers.
The ideal product manager candidate will have at least 3 years of experience building software products, and would like to continue to focus on becoming a more technical product manager. They are a systems thinker who can navigate operational needs and technical requirements to arrive at elegant solutions.
This role reports to the Director of Product - Platform, and works closely day-to-day with engineering lead and product designer.

Responsibilities:
- Working as a close partner with a Product Designer and an Engineering Lead to guide the pod in its mission
- Facilitate opportunity discovery and solution development with the whole pod
- Partner closely with operational teams to maximize the efficacy of internal users
- Play the role of Product Owner in the pod’s Scrum process
- Advocate and educate our internal teams on modern, agile-based product management methodologies
- Be primarily accountable for keeping all the pod’s collaborators, partners, stakeholders and other relevant parties informed of the pod’s affairs
- Be primarily accountable for smooth and impactful go-to-market execution and adoption of the pod’s work
- Conduct market research, qualitative research, quantitative analysis and generally seek out more knowledge to surface unmet needs for our internal users, and how that impacts our creators
- Shaping our internal tools that are directly responsible for day-to-day productivity and satisfaction of Teachable employees
- Be an advocate for our PEOPLE principles
Qualifications:
- A solid mid-level Product Manager with a fluent grasp on all the basic tools of the trade.
- Some experience working in growth stage ($10MM - $100MM ARR) companies
- You’ll play a key role in products with both web interfaces and APIs, ensuring that what the team builds are purpose-built for the needs of the people using them
- You are passionate about the importance of solution design in elevating customer experiences
- You want to empower the people around you to do their best work
Preferred Domain Experience:
- Ideally have hands-on Internal Tools or developer platform experience
- User research experience - we spend a lot of time talking with our employees about how we can improve the customer support journey by improving workflows or tooling
- Experience bringing a mix of custom tools and third-party integrations to address problems effectively and efficiently, with an eye toward future scale and maintainability
