JW Player is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join its Media Intelligence team in NYC to help develop, deploy and manage the next-generation of AI-enabled Data Science products for our platform.

You will have the opportunity to work with a small focused team to help implement new test processes, execute on product features in the backlog, set performance benchmarks, and build out our Continuous Deployment pipeline. This is a software engineering role and you should have the ability to execute on software projects on your own.

In this role, you will:

• Execute on product features and internal tools that drive content-based metadata extraction
• Own, design, and implement software projects from the ground up
• Work with a friendly team of high performing software developers

Some of the tasks you may work on include:

• Build features that help describe videos to improve our predictive models
• Create standalone API clients to be distributed to our customers
• Train and deploy deep learning models to do shot change detection
• Implement tools and develop metrics to evaluate automated transcripts and labels

About you:

• Experience with Python or ability to quickly learn a new programming language
• Solid understanding of concepts with any of - Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision or Deep Learning
• Familiar with distributed systems and the common challenges associated with them
• Familiar with RESTful API’s and experience building/working with them
• Comfortable with Unix-style tools and the CLI

Bonus Points:

• Experience with frameworks such as tensorflow, keras, torch, gensim, OpenCV, ffmpeg
• Experience working with Cloud services like AWS or GCP
• Experience using source code control tools (Git)
• You’ve held previous software engineering roles or internships
• You have contributed to Open Source projects or competed in a Kaggle challenge
