Description:

As a technical, hands-on Test Engineer, your job is to integrate into the general software engineering team and help break our software. If you can imagine Netflix as a product, your job as a test engineer may be finding out how many simultaneous active movie streams it would take to bring down the website (stress testing), or finding a way to subvert the account locking mechanism so one user can share his account with all his friends without them paying (exploratory testing), or writing Selenium scripts in Java to simulate a real user navigating through the website (automation testing).

You will work under the guidance of a Test Engineering Manager of a team with an already-established, mature testing process. You will learn basic software testing theory, how to properly determine type of testing required for a project, and will write a lot of code.

Your general milestones are the following:

• Within the first two weeks, successfully get through our test engineering bootcamp.
• With one month, integrate into an ongoing project and successfully demonstrate that you can perform basic test analysis for any new functionality being developed.
• Within two months, understand the basics of either node.js or Java and the respective automation framework to the point in which you can contribute basic automation tests with little guidance.

Ideal Skills

• Curious. Asking a lot of questions and enjoying exploration is going to be your best asset.
• Proficiency in either Java or node.js (coursework counts as proficiency).
• Results-driven. Your success will be measured on the critical bugs that you find and the tools / automation that you write.
