About the Opportunity: The VP of Internal Communication & Community will lead initiatives critical to supporting high performing, dispersed teams and maintaining an open, diverse and inclusive culture as we grow. Building community includes cultivating ways for Quartetians to interact socially and professionally, as well as investing in the virtual and physical spaces we share. Strong relationships across Quartet drive us forward collaboratively, and transparent communication keeps us aligned strategically. Communication and community are the foundation of trust, where true partnerships and innovation thrive. This individual will act as a key advocate and influencer of our culture, drive internal communication and employee-focused events, and create environments that enable productivity and joy. The VP of Internal Communication & Community will focus on maintaining an exceptional employee experience and high retention of all Quartetians. As a key advisor to the CEO and leadership team, this individual will provide strategic insight and advice on a variety of initiatives to help build and support all Quartetians. The ideal candidate will be extremely adept at connecting with employees on a personal level while maintaining focus on the strategic needs of the business. The VP of Internal Communication & Community is comfortable as both a senior individual contributor and a manager who is adept at getting work done through others who may directly or indirectly report to the role over time.

Accountabilities:  

Internal Communication:

  • Develop and execute an internal communication strategy that supports transparency, change management and growth for Quartet and our team 
  • Facilitate access to company information and knowledge across teams and levels
  • Craft and deliver engaging and informative content across multiple channels including email, Slack, virtual events, Town Halls, office hours and more 
  • Draft and refine internal messaging from the CEO and other leaders across the company to strike the right tone per audience, create clarity, and convey things simply 
  • Reflect our company values and priorities in communication to drive culture and performance
  • Translate complex strategies and learnings into easy to understand and actionable messaging
  • Communicate with honesty and transparency to build trust at all levels in the company
  • Collaborate with VP, Marketing & External Affairs to ensure alignment on internal and external narratives

Community:

  • Drive the strategic vision that aligns cross-functional efforts for community and connection-building
  • Be an internal champion of our mission, values and open communication by leading efforts across Quartet to build community as we scale and evolve  
  • Develop and recommend programs that demonstrate Quartet’s commitment to living our values and promote a higher level of engagement, productivity, inclusion and fun  
  • Act as an employee liaison to enhance our Quartet community and the employee experience  
  • Serve as a thought partner to leaders and the People Team to create the best possible work environment that aligns with Quartet’s business strategy  
  • Drive programs that promote professional and social interaction among Quartetians to promote collaboration, respect and trust in line with business priorities and accelerated growth   
  • Implement strategies to increase retention and ensure competitiveness in the market for talent

Workplace:

  • Create and support both physical and virtual environments that foster creativity, collaboration and community
  • Design and implement safe return to work plans, including, but not limited to: 
    • Support a hybrid environment including reserving shared desks, using co-working spaces, etc.
    • Explore the potential of coworking arrangements in cities outside of NYC with multiple Quartetians and support the arrangements entered into
  • Bring our mission and brand into our space, and ensure our NYC office works for its intended usage, (e.g., consider accessibility, air, lighting, environmental upgrades, and spaces for breaks, collaboration, meetings, Town Hall, etc.)
  • Partner with Finance and People Team on real estate and related expenditures
  • Partner with Security and Compliance to ensure appropriate safety, security and privacy measures are in place at all times
  • Serve as the primary liaison with building management in NYC
  • Oversee any construction, architectural planning, build-outs, refurbishing, painting, or decorating 
  • Own the upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness and organization of our NYC space
  • Manage the workplace staff in the NYC office
  • Oversee all matters related to food, beverages, and snacks in NYC and any related allotments or programs for remote Quartetians

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 8+ years of experience engaging and retaining dispersed talent
  • 5+ year of experience writing internal communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely high emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting and advocating for employees at all levels of the organization.  
  • Approachable, inclusive and collaborative; capable of establishing trust and confidence by demonstrating a high degree of credibility and integrity.  
  • Ability to practice calm and sound judgement under pressure and in support of the organization and our people.  
  • Experience partnering at the CxO level, and working with senior leadership to empower, influence and drive change  
  • Proven experience working and building strong partnerships cross-functionally to execute on key cross-functional initiatives 
  • Experience in project management and event planning

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in healthcare a plus  
  • Experience with companies at various sizes and stage
  • Management experience
  • Office Management experience
