We're now looking for an AML BSA Officer/ Financial Crime Lead to join TransferWise’s North America team and help take the Company to the next level. You will be working very closely with the Operational Compliance teams to help shape our AML strategy and work from either our NYC or Tampa office.

Your mission:

  • Owner of the North America Financial Crime Risk Assessment and contributor to the Enterprise Financial Crime Risk Assessment. Responsible and accountable for considering financial crime risk across all products, and driving a risk-based approach to money-laundering and terrorist financing;
  • Work with the cross-function compliance teams (AML, Verification, EDD, Fraud) to provide insights on risks and typologies, mitigate ML/TF and financial crime risks, and promote robust compliance cross-team communication;
  • Work with product teams (both regional and global) to understand the financial crime risks of new products and features, and to build products with a healthy compliance foundation;
  • Develop and maintain accurate management information (MI) on financial crime risk and controls, keeping all teams informed of the “health” of the compliance program;
  • Continuously develop and maintain a AML/ CTF risk management program, which tracks risks and allows operational teams to make informed decisions on the systems and controls that they build;
  • Undertake at least annually an AML/ CTF risk assessment ensuring timely action to remedy any areas that need improvement; 
  • Represent the AML/ CTF risk function and methodology to regulators, auditors and partners where required, establishing and maintaining solid partnerships.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of TransferWise’s customers and products and how we are achieving Money Without Borders.
  • Help keep compliance right at the heart of our product developments.
  • Build something for the future - we are continuing to grow rapidly and your work will be key to continuing that.

A bit about you:

  • Expert in relevant North America regulations and regulatory guidance, particularly the Anti Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing and Electronic Funds Transfer Regulations;
  • Previous experience performing ML/TF risk assessments with respect to financial services products;
  • Previous experience working with operational compliance teams to strengthen policy and process for financial crime risk controls;
  • Strong relationship builder across all levels of the business, that leads by example and demonstrates the TransferWise values in all their actions;
  • Willingness to get involved at the in all stages of the Compliance Program;
  • Flexibility for travel, approximately 20% of time.
