JW Player is looking for an Associate Counsel to lead the commercial and related aspects of our business. In this role, you will focus primarily on revenue generating customer and partner transactions. Working with our General Counsel, you will own the entire end-to-end legal process, including the contracting, negotiating and management of our customer and partner contracts.

In this role you will:

• Be a strategic legal advisor to the sales, partnership and other teams
  • Develop and maintain expert current knowledge on new developments and legal guidance relevant to our business
  • Assist in structuring new sales and business models and related contracts
  • Adapt existing approaches for international expansion
• Lead the re-architecting of JW Player’s commercial contracts practice to develop a scalable, business-centric approach to revenue generating contracts
  • Build legal policies, processes and resources for legal review and approval to facilitate the timely closure of business transactions while minimizing risk exposure
  • Draft, negotiate, and administer various commercial and technology agreements
  • Conduct training to educate sales and other teams on contract terms, negotiation best practices, commercial implications, and legal risks
• Develop, implement and manage a contract management strategy that provides critical business intelligence to the organization
  • Establish a data architecture to identify and extract the key information from existing and new contracts
  • Partner with the revenue operations team to implement a contract workflow and management system
  • Maintain and update form agreements, contract management systems, and other databases

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience that includes:
  • JD with high academic achievement
  • 4-7 years of law firm and/or in-house experience (candidates with in-house experience preferred)
  • Experience with commercial contracts and/or technology licensing, including comfort in addressing privacy and data protection issues in the commercial contract context
• A way of working that demonstrates:

  • Ability to understand business needs and to partner with business leaders to provide technically precise legal advice and creative solutions to support revenue
