Commercial Counsel

Our customers include some of the biggest enterprises in the world like PayPal, Credit-Suisse and Societe Generale, and together we are upgrading the global financial system using modern blockchain and crypto technology.
The Commercial Counsel will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel and will partner closely with business development to help drive deals to completion, assess risk and provide creative solutions to complex legal or business issues. This is a new position necessitated by Paxos' business growth. We’re moving into new and exciting areas, and we need you!
The Commercial Counsel will be an integral part of the legal team, with a focus on drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements to facilitate growth as well as helping to develop new standards and practices to reduce friction in the commercial legal function. This role will engage proactively with the rest of the company, including the Operations, Compliance, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Business Development teams to advance the company’s mission.
The Commercial Counsel will, among other things:
- Advise on commercial issues
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements
- Create trainings, playbooks and other collateral to help support deal growth
You should have:
- A law degree
- Admitted to a state bar.
- 4-6+ years of corporate experience in a law firm and/or in-house.
- Experience in cryptocurrency/fintech a plus.
- Experience working with regulators or for a regulated business is a plus.
- Baseline knowledge of ISDA Master Agreements and/or OTC derivative agreements is a plus.
