You’ll be joining a dynamic team that values creativity and principled risk taking.  You will work closely and build trusted relationships with a number of business teams, including our Content & Community, Brand & Creative, Trust & Safety, and User Success teams, to grow and protect the business.  You’ll also have primary responsibility for legal issues relating to data security and global privacy law compliance.  You’ll work on a diverse scope of issues and projects, proactively assessing legal risks that cut across many areas of law and jurisdictions, including in content regulation, intellectual property, data governance and protection, privacy, and consumer protection.  We have minimal hierarchy, and your ideas and contributions will make an immediate impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review, negotiate, and draft a wide range of commercial agreements including vendor agreements, NDAs, SaaS agreements, data processing agreements, intellectual property licenses, and many more
• Work with our information security experts to implement and maintain relevant data protection standards and work closely with our Engineering, Product, and Marketing teams to evaluate and mitigate potential data protection risks
• Work cross functionally to advise on, and ensure compliance with, global privacy laws
• Draft and manage the implementation of terms of use, internal and external policies, consumer disclosures, and other consumer facing communication
• Provide practical and creative guidance on a wide range of legal and business requests
• Keep current on relevant U.S. and international laws and regulations, especially those related to privacy and data protection, consumer protection, and content regulation
• Collaborate with other legal team members to share ideas, teach and learn from each other, and improve how we work
• Create training materials and scalable processes

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-7+ years of combined, relevant experience with in-house legal departments, law firms, or government agencies; in-house experience at a SaaS technology company preferred
• Excellent commercial negotiation and drafting skills
• Exceptional communication skills, oral and written
• Substantial experience with US and international law on privacy and data security, intellectual property, consumer protection, and content policies
• Sound and practical business judgment, curiosity, and problem-solving skills
• Fluency translating legal advice into actionable guidance for product and business teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with internal business clients
• Willingness and ability to learn new skills
• JD and active membership in at least one state bar
