We’re looking for a Director of State & Local Public Affairs responsible for strengthening CLEAR’s corporate reputation and brand awareness at the state and local level. Located in New York, this individual will develop and execute public affairs and communications strategies to effectively tell CLEAR’s story at the local level to elected officials, community partners, local opinion leaders, media and members. We’re looking for a strategic thinker and self-starter obsessed with the art of the possible and relentless execution.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and strengthen CLEAR’s corporate reputation and brand awareness in key markets and with key audiences
  • Work cross-functionally with Public Affairs, Operations, Marketing and Growth teams to develop and execute creative public affairs and communications campaigns that advance CLEAR's business objectives and best utilize our assets and resources
  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in government, business, and other areas; and educate stakeholders on CLEAR’s mission and growth
  • Develop and execute plans to manage public policy and political challenges in select markets  
  • Identify, develop and manage strategic community partnerships in select markets 
  • Represent the company at events, legislative hearings, and stakeholder meetings as needed
  • Develop communications and collateral materials, including (but not limited to) press releases, media advisories, pitch notes, stakeholder communications, fact sheets and decks 
  • Manage vendors and political consultants in select markets 

Who You Are:

  • 15+ years experience in a political campaign, government role or fast-paced corporate or agency environment
  • Extensive and strong relationships with government, civic, media, non-profit, and business leaders in New York City and Albany 
  • Extensive knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process 
  • A strong self-starter who is eager to make their mark in a fast-paced organization
  • Experience working across diverse and differing political and geographic markets 
  • Experience leading a team
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • A team player who has experience working across multiple levels, teams, and regions
  • Experience with a wide range of communication channels including digital, broadcast, radio, and print
  • Ability to travel 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines
  • Intellectually curious with a positive attitude and willingness to adapt in a flexible and fast-paced environment

We are located in the Chelsea neighborhood on Manhattan's west side. Chelsea is the primary art district within the borough.
