As Expansion Counsel at Compass, you work on exciting legal matters as technological innovations in real estate require unique and proactive legal guidance. You are part of a team of in-house lawyers and the projects you work on challenge you to think creatively and constructively. You are energetic and collaborative -- ready to partner in initiatives that influence Compass’ expansion into new markets. This is a cross functional role that will work with Expansion, Strategic Growth, Real Estate teams, to name a few, to create and provide seamless legal expansion practices and support in new cities throughout the United States. Your contributions will be impactful, value driven and you will play an instrumental role in the Compass Legal Department as we expand our mission to new cities.

At Compass You Will:

• Work at the intersection of market expansion and legal needs
• Structure deal terms on complex agreements
• Analyze simple and complex regulatory issues
• Collaborate with Expansion Strategy team to support real estate leasing projects
• Create and drive process related to all key legal responsibilities related to new-market expansion

What We Look For:

• JD degree from an exceptional law school
• 3-4+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm or corporation
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Strategic thinker who builds consensus to support process design and improvements
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure in a dynamic, fluid environment
• Leadership ability to successfully implement new legal initiatives to support expansion
• Ability to work independently and take 100% ownership of projects
• Active and in good standing in the New York State Bar
