The Role
LeafLink seeks an International Government Affairs Lead to join our growing team in Toronto. You will work closely with our Client Success, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations/Expansion teams across North America to scale our user base into new markets. You will be persistent in pursuing new clients and help lead our Sales and Expansion teams position themselves for success in new territories.
This role is for self-starters and entrepreneurial-minded individuals who can work with our Business Development team to help crush sales goals. You are a good fit for this position if you are a goal-oriented overachiever with the drive to chase down clients and close deals.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years relevant experience in government relations at a domestic or international government organization or scaling startup
- Ability to quickly get up to speed and identify key issues to develop and execute a go-to-market strategy
- Ownership of valuable relationships with multiple stakeholders across the political spectrum in a specialized vertical
- Leader in industry groups with deep regulatory connections, ideally in cannabis, if not, open to forging connections with those in our industry
- Proven ability to work across teams and territories to align overall companies goals with unique challenges in new markets
- Excel in fast-paced start-ups, excited by a rapidly changing industry
Responsibilities:
- Proactively initiate and build international relationships with local and federal regulators, ensuring LeafLink’s policy stances are known
- Successfully represent our vision for continued regulation of cannabis companies in a non-vertically integrated supply chain using powerful research and negotiation skills
- Write business and policy proposals, blog posts, regulatory commentary
- Redline draft policy proposals and ordinances to further LeafLink’s objectives, developing and executing legislative campaigns in new markets
- Educate regulators, politicians and their teams about LeafLink’s core mission
- Provide strategic advice internally to all LeafLink teams on the changing markets
- Research and help outline the international launch markets of a proven domestic product
- Build relationships in developing markets to prime them for our product in the future
- Travel as needed, both domestically and internationally
