Legal and Compliance Manager

(Remote)

What You'll Do: 

  • They will own all key regulatory, legal and compliance work; helping us navigate the uncharted territory as we grow the business  
  • Any state or federal requirements
  • Exploratory legal, regulatory and compliance work for new products and adjustments to current product offering
  • Assist in legal / board interactions as well as future debt and equity raises
  • Contract review

What Excites Us: 

  • 5+ years of experience in a regulatory, compliance or legal department
  • Background in the fintech industry (lending, banking, payments)
  • Experience with commercial lending and money transmitter requirements
  • Experience with state and federal regulatory, compliance and legal guidelines
  • Experience creating the regulatory, compliance and legal infrastructure for new product offerings
  • Experience handling legal / compliance workflows between founders/executive team and the board as well as assisting on debt and equity capital raises
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating key contracts / NDAs across the organization

What you'll need: 

  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory, compliance or legal department
  • Currently Managing regulatory, compliance or legal function at B2B fintech
  • Background in commercial lending, SaaS, fintech, financial services
  • Has experience with commercial lending and money transmitter requirements
  • Has experience with state and federal regulatory, compliance and legal guidelines
  • Has experience creating the regulatory, compliance and legal infrastructure for new product offerings
  • Has experience handling legal / compliance workflows between founders/executive team and the board
  • Has experience assisting on debt and equity capital raises
  • Has experience reviewing multiple types of contracts and negotiating for better terms
  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree, with state bar membership preferred, but not required

Compensation Range: 

$130,000-170,000

Axle believes in providing pay transparency to all candidates. For annual compensation, our pay ranges for all roles are based on geographic location, job responsibilities and experience, benchmarked against similar stage companies in our industry. We share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Every final offer presented is determined by several components including location as well as candidate experience and skills, and could alter from the amounts listed above.


We have unlimited PTO, and we mean it! We incentivize employees taking at least 3 day off each quarter, and require each employee to take a minimum of 5 consecutive days off each year.
