Cadre is seeking a self-motivated legal professional excited to be a crucial part of the legal team at an industry-changing FinTech firm. The role requires not only a strong understanding of the core legal principles underpinning corporate transactions and governance, but also an understanding of business operations, strategy and process. The candidate will be responsible for the development, testing, implementation, and on-going expansion of a technology-based workflows and infrastructure that facilitate the efficient operationalization of relevant transactions. The position requires close collaboration with company leadership, seasoned acquisitions pros, operations professionals, computer engineers, data scientists, external operating partners, and external counsel. The ideal candidate for this role has significant experience in all of legal aspects of complex transactions where strategy, efficiency and consistency are essential. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment where innovation and creativity are critical components to success.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide support and advice to Cadre’s business team on legal matters and risk management as a part of the “dealmaking” process where business sense will be as important as legal acumen
  • Identify bottlenecks in the closing workflow process and propose solutions to optimize
  • Participate in cutting-edge investment team initiatives by providing real-time advice, suggestions, and recommendations on new business products and systems
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to further develop data efficiency tools
  • Provide well-reasoned legal advice and act as an escalation point day-to-day for the general counsel and business team to find solutions to manage real estate transactional matters (appropriately balancing Cadre’s commercial and reputational requirements)
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts and agreements (primarily real estate related), including joint venture agreements, purchase and sale agreements, investor and sponsor agreements, and loan documents
  • Manage external counsel to ensure high-quality, commercial, and cost effective legal advice
  • Work closely with the legal and business teams in addressing investor questions
  • You will work very closely with and report directly to Cadre’s General Counsel

What You Have

  • J.D. from top-tier law school
  • Member in good standing with the New York State Bar
  • 6+ years of significant experience at major law firm or corporate in-house legal department (real estate and/or private equity experience a plus)
  • Experienced at handling all aspects of real estate transactions, from letter of intent to closing
  • Thoughtful, proactive, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks
  • Effective oral and written communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Understanding that legal advice goes beyond the law and the ability to respond creatively and strategically to meet the needs of Cadre’s business and technology professionals
  • Ability to effectively identify issues and formulate solutions, often in an unconventional manner
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial minded
  • Ability to take risks and accept failure
