About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a full-time legal counsel based in New York City to join as the second lawyer in the team, reporting to our Head of Legal. You will have a chance to help shape the company’s legal function, build processes and policies, and interact with sales, finance, product, and development teams at an exciting, fast paced company, taking over the identity verification market.
What You'll Do:
- Advise on a broad range of commercial matters and support our sales teams on deal structure and contract negotiations
- Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of technology and commercial contracts including SaaS agreements, POCs, NDAs, vendor contracts and partnership agreements
- Assist our Head of Legal in identifying and advising management on legal issues and risks and offer creative risk mitigation solutions
- Become an expert on the company's products and business model and provide our product team with legal guidance in connection with product development
- Prepare and maintain template agreements
- Provide support to the Head of Legal on corporate and general legal matters, such as financing transactions, litigation and HR
- Create and improve processes and policies
What You'll Bring:
- 4-7 years of post JD experience advising technology companies (SaaS preferred); Fintech and/or AI experience is a plus
- JD from an accredited law school and active NY Bar membership
- Experience supporting sales teams and negotiating technology transactions with Fortune 500 customers
- You love being a lawyer, owning your projects, are not afraid to voice your opinion and strive to constantly improve yourself and everything you are involved with
- You are a problem solver who is not afraid to make decisions under ambiguous circumstances, with tight deadlines, and work efficiently and independently on multiple projects with competing deadlines
- A bias for closing deals and finding pragmatic solutions to any issues you encounter
