Here at Snappy, we’re on the search for a Legal Operations Manager. As the company’s first member of its Legal Operations team, you’ll work closely with the VP of Legal and will be an instrumental member of our small but mighty and growing legal team!  

As Legal Operations Manager, you will lead Snappy’s in-house legal operations team, designing and implementing a range of technology, systems and process solutions.  You will design and oversee core operations functions within the Legal team, with a focus on five key areas: legal billing, vendor management, contract processing, knowledge management, and department metrics and analytics.

As part of this, you will be responsible for working cross-functionally with product, sales, finance and other counterparts to implement and optimize contracting solutions for the Legal team as it generates, negotiates, signs, monitors, stores and analyzes agreements on behalf of Snappy. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned legal operations leader to demonstrate strategic vision and operational excellence.

You will also enable the legal organization to more effectively manage risks, monitor compliance, incorporate the right technological tools, and deliver more value to the enterprise by accelerating the business. 

You will: 

  • Provide timely, business-focused advice to all departments, including Operations, Product, Sales, Analytics, Finance, and HR to achieve business objectives, mitigate risks, and meet legal obligations
  • Develop and manage a global contracting approach in coordination with sales, information security, finance and tax to improve efficiency and accelerate the sales process across all regions; revise and maintain MSA templates and playbooks; provide dedicated support for MSA negotiation and customer diligence requests
  • Oversee the company’s contract management system and improve internal legal processes, while optimizing the company’s standard forms
  • Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company
  • Manage outside counsel’s delivery of legal services
  • Be proactive and help anticipate and plan for challenges before they arrive. We will rely on you to anticipate and prepare for the operational demands of a rapidly growing legal department.
  • Steer alignment among leadership around legal operations priorities and general strategy and guide the legal department in adopting best operating policies and practices that will allow it to work and scale more efficiently.
  • Procure, monitor use, and train staff in software tools and other resources that allow us to operate efficiently and integrate with business processes.
  • Lead the legal department in developing and operating tools and processes to manage outside vendors, including timely invoice approvals, budget tracking and coordination, streamlined onboarding processes, and finding opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Participate in industry corporate legal COO roundtables, industry benchmarking studies and create a network to provide best practices and recommendations to the Legal  team.
  • Prepare, monitor and track legal department objectives. Create metrics and trends on key data points aligned to the Legal team’s key objectives and strategic plan, as well as overall department effectiveness and efficiency

You are:

  • Backed by a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal operations experience, including Legal Industry, Law Firm or In-house Legal Operations experience
  • Familiar with software tools and other systems in common usage among internal legal departments
  • Knowledgeable about and experienced with managing a CMR, with experience with Ironclad or other contracting management system
  • Able to manage multiple different projects and show great judgment in triaging priorities, often in rapidly changing circumstances with little guidance.
  • Strategic and results-driven, proactive and resourceful
  • A self-starter who is at home in a fast-paced, high-growth and informal start-up environment where demands and priorities can change rapidly
  • Efficient and effective in your communication across all different levels and teams
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and being hands-on
  • Eager to develop collaborative relationships with internal partners
  • Note: A Bachelor’s degree is required

Bonus Points For:

  • A law or business degree
  • JD and experience as a legal practitioner
  • Prior commercial contracting experience
  • Knowledge of U.S. an EU data specific privacy laws
  • Experience scaling business and legal processes and policies for a rapidly growing SaaS company
