As Legal Operations Specialist, you will be the primary builder of the legal operations function at OwnBackup, one of America’s fastest-growing companies. You will play a key role in designing, building and automating processes to support the company’s 100% year-over-year growth and our evolution to a mature, operationally disciplined company. Your Day-to-Day Role
- Administer the company’s contract lifecycle management (CLM) tool and related processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve Legal Department processes, and develop and lead implementation of those improvements, using technology and automation as appropriate.
- Harness data and build systems to reliably track and report on key operational and substantive metrics for the Legal Department that will inform decision-making.
- Help develop processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and spend.
- Collaborate with other functions, including Sales, IT, and Finance, to build cross-functional processes as appropriate.
- Lead efforts to develop a global document retention policy.
Your Work Experience
- BA or BS required, with a preference for candidates with a technical concentration.
- 2–3 years of experience with legal project operations and management in-house or at a law firm (both preferred).
- Experience with business intelligence systems a plus.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
- Experience developing forms, processes, and policies.
- Desire to pitch in and help where needed in a fast-growing startup.
- Enthusiastic team member who enjoys taking ownership of projects, building relationships cross-functionally and working on cutting-edge issues in legal operations.
- Proficient in business applications such as Google Docs, Microsoft Word and Excel, contract lifecycle management systems, Salesforce.com (CRM) and enterprise legal department software.
- Familiarity with corporate litigation hold processes and the corresponding obligations.
Important Details
This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our New Jersey office to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business.
