WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

As a member of The Trade Desk’s Legal Team, and reporting to the Chief Privacy Counsel, the Privacy Counsel will support the Privacy and Legal teams with research, analysis, and advice, and will work extensively with other members of the business across all functional areas to help ensure privacy compliance and risk management. This individual must be able to work independently, have a proven ability to understand complex legal issues at the intersection of privacy and technology, and be able to translate that understanding into practical solutions for the company. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, identify and manage risk, interact easily with all levels of employees, meet deadlines and prioritize projects. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Exercise exceptional judgement to advise The Trade Desk team and contribute to the overall success of the business
  • Research, analyze, and advise on privacy laws, rules, and regulations from around the globe
  • Keep abreast of privacy-related developments around the globe that affect the company and the industry
  • Take ownership of key aspects of the Privacy team’s support of other Legal functions and the rest of the business
  • Work hands-on with business and product teams to support the implementation of privacy risk management and compliance
  • Continually improve our legal processes to help us scale globally with a consistent but locally relevant approach

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • 3-5 years of relevant legal experience
  • Admitted to practice in New York or the ability to register as In-House Counsel in New York
  • CIPP/US and CIPP/E, or ability and willingness to achieve both within three months
  • Exceptionally thorough, with excellent judgment
  • Very hands-on and practical, ready to work closely with legal team colleagues, as well as business, product, and engineering staff to get things done
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (sense of humor is a big plus)
  • Solid understanding of internet technology is a must
  • Prior business or technical experience and/or familiarity with the ad tech ecosystem would be ideal
