About the role:

Regulatory Engagement The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will be the first-line point of contact on a day-to-day basis for state gaming regulators as well as the company’s external partners in states where we operate in retail locations. Developing trust, communication and an effective working relationship with all regulatory contacts will be paramount. 

Policies and Procedures The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will develop, refine, train on and test appropriate policies, procedures and job aids that, when effectuated, will enable the company to maintain a compliant, market-leading Retail Sportsbook product. The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will own a Retail location’s compliance environment from the launch of that property throughout its existence.

Activity Monitoring The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will monitor customer and system activity, conduct diligence as needed, and will escalate, disposition and report on relevant customer play concerns as required by relevant federal and state law, regulations, directives from regulatory agencies, and other obligations. 

Other Stakeholder Engagement The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will be responsible for actively partnering and managing relationships with our internal retail business team as well as with our Market Access Partners and all other stakeholders involved in our Retail business. The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will help define roles and responsibilities of the regulatory compliance personnel at each venue and will design processes and tracking mechanisms to allow for successful execution of these roles and responsibilities. 

What you'll do working under the direction of the Legal department: 

  • Design and manage an effective retail regulatory program that meets obligations set by the relevant authorities with a particular focus on AML legislation and regulation (FATF, US Federal and state AML/CTF Online Gaming requirements) 
  • Design, manage and continually refine SOPs, reports and reporting that enables effective monitoring of day-to-day product activities. 
  • Build and implement new employee and annual training programs for Retail staff
  • Monitor product activity to detect issues requiring further review and escalation. 
  • Respond to issues that arise by conducting diligence and resolve, report and document such issues to the satisfaction of stakeholders including, but not limited to local market access partners and applicable regulators.
  • Develop, implement and maintain up-to-date governance, policies, procedures, internal controls and training that enable the company to effectively meet regulatory requirements and periodically reexamine SOPs to make sure that physical practice is aligned with documented practice 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain testing protocol for effectiveness of relevant policies, procedures and processes. 
  • Analyze and report on specific areas within Regulatory Compliance and Responsible Gambling to the local market access partner, the VP of Regulatory and Compliance, Group Teams in the UK and Ireland, and to the relevant state authorities.
  • Respond to requests from internal and external auditors relating to regulatory compliance processes, procedures and policies.
  • Act as a point of contact for escalations for customer facing teams.
  • Monitor potential impact of upcoming changes to FanDuel products on regulatory compliance and partner with internal stakeholders to appropriately address any necessary responses.
  • Track and implement recommendations fromFanDuel’s Risk Committee. 
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments.
  • Maintain record retention processes for effective and compliant record retention.
  • Complete other regulatory compliance tasks assigned by management. 

Who we're looking for 

  • 3+ years successful experience in an analytical and detail-oriented role preferably including extraction, analysis and interpretation of data relating to management reports 
  • Travel flexibility: Role will require significant on-the-ground engagement with new retail locations before and during launch as well as quarterly site audits and other monitoring and training visits as necessary 
  • Sound and tested experience exercising judgment including communication, relationships and the accurate presentation of materials required of high-stakes engagements. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (J.D. a plus, but this is not a role involving the practice of law) 
  • Experience engaging directly with federal or state regulators,SROs or comparable
  • Internal control, internal audit or compliance experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of management
  • Extensive relevant post-qualification experience
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a very fast paced and changing environment
  • Understanding of business priorities and ability to work to them 
  • Attention to detail and an analytical mind
  • Ability to work independently and out of comfort zone
  • High level of personal initiative and motivation
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills 
  • Professional, honest and reliable
  • Customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Ability to identify weaknesses in procedures and controls, and recommend improvements to those weaknesses through audit or comparable processes 
  • Ability to translate technology specifications to operational implications and alignment of controls to same 
  • Experience with AML/BSA and other Due Diligence frameworks, requirements and processes
  • Developing and implementing effective training modules
  • Ability to work with remote teams
  • Proactive and forward thinking
  • Preferred major in management, business, legal or technical
  • Technical competencies in Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, Power Point as well as interest in designing process tools (such as SharePoint sites)
