Away is growing quickly and we're hiring an entrepreneurial attorney to join our team. In this role, your primary focus will be supporting everything creative at Away, from media to production to partnerships. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to work across teams and substantive legal topics in other areas of the company as well. This position reports directly to the General Counsel and is based at our headquarters in NoHo, New York City.

REQUIREMENTS
What you'll do:

• Provide practical legal advice supporting business functions in the US and internationally, focusing primarily on the creative elements of current and future business opportunities.
• Counsel on intellectual property and marketing issues.
• Develop and operationalize policies, training, templates and workflows to allow business teams to move quickly while addressing key risks.
• Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including agreements supporting digital marketing, social media and influencer marketing, advertising, talent agreements, licensing agreements, experiential marketing and digital and print media production (including video, photographic, and editorial content).
• Provide end-to-end legal clearance support and advise the creative team on potential issues and solutions at every step of the creative process.
• Provide pre-publication review of all consumer advertising and marketing materials, point-­of-­sale materials, and digital and social media campaigns in accordance with industry and FTC guidelines.
• Participate in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of domestic and international commercial agreements, including sales, e­commerce, technology development & master services agreements, SaaS and intellectual property licenses, supply chain & logistics, consulting, and operations agreements.
• Manage pre-­litigation claims and engage in dispute resolution and other risk management activities.

What you have:

• J.D. from top law school with admission to one or more state bars in good standing required; NY or CA Bar admission preferred.
• At least 5 years of directly relevant experience, including time both at a top law firm and in-­house legal experience with a creative agency, media company or high-growth technology company working on related matters.
• The ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside counsel, senior management and business partners. You can lead internal trainings, talk to external partners and represent Away publicly with ease.
• Strong business acumen, excellent legal and practical judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.
• A focus on results with a high sense of urgency and demonstrated time management skills.
