We’re looking for an experienced Senior Counsel, Privacy to lead our cross-functional privacy efforts and support the rapid growth we are experiencing in the US and abroad. This position will be critical to our ability to scale Maven’s unique virtual care model while adhering to applicable privacy and data regulations. We need a forward-thinking, collaborative and optimistic leader who can help us solve the many complex issues that surface working across different healthcare populations while managing hyper-growth.

To make our mission a reality, your skills will be accountable for:
- Advise on all aspects of US healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH, state laws, and privacy trends
- Support on international privacy regulations, such as GDPR
- Provide support to product and engineering teams as it relates to data usage
- Manage external counsel to develop global healthcare privacy approaches
- Develop and deliver privacy training, breach and audit policies and procedures
- Update playbook for and advise on BAAs and other agreements involving health data
- Providing strategic advice to cross-functional teams on ERISA standards applicable to excepted benefits EAPs
- Assessing regulatory risk and monitoring federal or state regulatory requirements related to employer-sponsored benefit plans and third party administrators
- Serve as the primary contact to cross functional internal teams
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. and admission to at least one state bar
- 5+ years of legal experience in privacy and health care
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
- You’re engaged and excited to help accelerate the growth of a dynamic, fast-paced company revolutionizing the healthcare landscape
- Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills with the ability to balance business needs with legal risks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing teams or building functions
- In-house counsel at a health plan, digital health, or a startup
