Senior General Counsel/Associate General Counsel

Reporting to the General Counsel you will have responsibilities supporting a wide range of teams through the company. Ultimately, this candidate will be key and primary legal advisor to teams at Resident, including the Marketing, Operations, Logistics and Fulfillment, and Retail teams.

Responsibilities
- Provide practical legal advice supporting various business functions, with an emphasis on business and marketing operations, retail distribution and commercial transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial and purchasing contracts, including licenses, SaaS agreements, services agreements with a wide range of suppliers and service providers, confidentiality agreements, data privacy agreements, releases and consulting agreements
- Support our fast moving Marketing team on consumer-facing projects and initiatives, including social media influencer agreements, production agreements, and product placement agreements and review of privacy issues
- Develop and maintain expert current knowledge on new developments and legal guidance relevant to our business and industry
- Support legal team in the development of policies, training, templates and workflows to allow business teams to move quickly while addressing key risks in substantive areas
- Collaborate in the continuing development of Resident’s commercial contracts workflows to develop a scalable, business-centric approach to commercial agreements
- Create, update and manage legal policies, processes and resources for the company as a whole.
- Counsel and educate teams on contract terms, negotiation best practices, commercial implications and legal risks
- Support General Counsel and other legal team members in all contracts management, intellectual property management, corporate governance and related compliance, litigation, privacy, audit and diligence matters
- Provide advice and support data privacy and other compliance initiatives, including keeping up to date on new and changing laws and competitive landscape
- Support General Counsel and other team members on the initial public offering process and/or work on implementation and maintenance of public company-level regulatory compliance and audit processes in collaboration with finance and other teams
Requirements
- You have a J.D. from a U.S. accredited law school
- You have admission to one or more state bars in good standing
- You have at least 8+ years of directly relevant experience. In-house legal experience advising on commercial, operations and technology issues with a consumer brand/products company strongly preferred
- You have significant experience with independently drafting and negotiating contracts to completion and tackling legal issues through a business lens in an in house role
- You effectively provide practical efficient advice to non-legal team members on a variety of legal and business issues, preferably in a high growth environment
- You thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial and collaborative environment, independently setting priorities and driving results
- You have strong business acumen, excellent legal and practical judgment, and strong problem-solving skills
- You focus on attention to detail with results with a high sense of urgency and demonstrated time management skills.
