At Supercall, we want to help the drinking world drink better. As Managing Editor, you'll help lead the Supercall editorial team as it creates engaging, shareable, informative content about cocktails, spirits and drinking culture in general. You will manage the day to day of a fast paced editorial team, work with the Executive Editor to run pitch meetings, plan the editorial calendar, make sure pieces are coming in on time, and oversee communication between the art department, video producer, editorial department, and audience development team. You will also edit and write stories, all with the goal of making Supercall the go-to brand for all things spirits and cocktails.

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned editor who has worked for a digital brand, and who possesses management experience, a passion for cocktails and spirits, and the desire to bring others into this wonderful world of drinking. He or she should excel in a fast-paced environment and be excited about filling the internet with stories that make people thirsty for more.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the editorial calendar, making sure we are hitting content goals while taking into account the staff’s time and efforts
  • Work with the art team and editorial team to ensure photography and illustrations are being executed correctly and on time
  • Manage a team of editors and writers, ensuring that everyone is working at their peak
  • Participate in weekly pitch meetings, contributing to the betterment of the site and throwing out ideas for awesome new stories about all things booze
  • Edit staff pieces and freelance pieces while keeping everything in tone with Supercall’s voice
  • Work with the Executive Editor to run day-to-tay operations
  • Oversee daily homepage updates so the site always looks its best and gives the people what they want: the latest and greatest in drinking
  • Keep site up to date with SEO-related stories and updates
  • Act as a liaison between the G9 tech team and Supercall, making sure the staff is up to date on any new developments

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of the spirits/cocktails/bars/drinking world
  • 3-5 years relevant writing and editing experience at a digital company
  • Highly organized (as in, you make lists in your sleep)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of CMS
  • Some experience managing a team
  • Strong editing skills
  • Familiarity with SEO strategy
