TITLE: Marketing Associate
LOCATION: New York City (hybrid)
SALARY: $60,000 - $75,000 (depending on experience)
The Role:
The role's purpose is to serve as a marketing generalist supporting and learning from the marketing team, with a specific focus on content and event management. This person will help the marketing team stay organized and connected internally while also increasing our capacity to scale marketing efforts. Examples of key impacts would include supporting the development of product education through blog posts and increasing Canoe's reach by assisting at sponsored or Canoe-hosted events. The impact of this role is far-reaching in contributing to increasing our brand awareness and product familiarity, while also amplifying lead generation and conversion efforts.
What You'll Do:
- Organizing marketing operations: Keeping marketing calendars up to date and building up relevant action items/workflows in Asana (awards, events, content, social) to support tasks across the marketing team. Includes getting approval and taking action where relevant.
- Coordinating content creation Liaising with our EMEA PR firm and internal stakeholders to maintain communications calendar; Researching, pitching, and developing new content for Canoe, including supporting existing blog/content cadences and owning a monthly blog cadence (e.g. product marketing)
- Supporting content distribution: Drafting social media content and images for paid and organic campaigns; Supporting social media content creation and publication for Canoe's social power users; Supporting email campaign production and distribution
- Managing event logistics: Preparing, tracking, and following up on the logistics of all sponsored and hosted events. Includes coordinating swag orders/shipments, and communicating information and reminders to attendees.
- Supporting new website development and ongoing management: Supporting website redevelopment efforts. Includes reviewing new pages against mockups/wireframes, drafting new copy or images to optimize page content, and helping to standardize past and future blog content.
- Owning broader monthly marketing initiatives: Managing monthly initiatives, including the marketing newsletter, social media content series (Partner Round Up, Month In Review), and month-end marketing impact reporting.
- Collaboration: Liaise closely with the marketing, partnerships, business development, sales, relationship management, and product teams on a regular basis. This also includes collaborating with vendors for swag orders (Loop and Tie), event coordinators for sponsorships, and restaurant managers for Canoe-hosted events.
- Tech stack: Frequently use the marketing team's core toolset, including Hubspot, Canva, Salesforce, Slack, Google Suite, Wordpress, LinkedIn, Confluence, and Asana or other project management software.
What We're Looking For:
- Early career: near entry-level but not their first marketing role
- Strong communication skills, particularly in writing and editing exercises
- Strong organization skills and resourceful nature
- Strong eye for design and attention to detail. Not graphic designer level, but knows the basic principles of slide design, color theory, applying fonts and brand colors
- Need to be based in tri-state area and able to travel on occasion to support in-person conferences
- Some finance, financial services or tech experience whether by internship, course work or previous work experience. This is especially important because they will need to be able to interpret concepts and apply them in their writing and content curation activities (do not need to be an expert in finance, but should be discerning about what is relevant to Canoe)
- Some type of event management experience, whether by previous role, internship, or college club experience. This is especially important because they may need to manage multiple events at once in tandem with their other job responsibilities
Preferred:
- Experience using marketing automation tools, specifically Hubspot. Can take the Hubspot Academy training course as part of their onboarding plan.
- Experience using design platforms, specifically Canva. Can take Canva Design School courses as part of their onboarding plan.
- Experience using LinkedIn from the corporate side
- Familiarity with project management software or demonstrated examples of organizing work, such as Excel-based calendars, marketing plans, etc.
