About the role:

Foursquare is seeking a Communications Associate to join Foursquare’s communications team. Our comms team drives Foursquare’s story in a compelling and differentiated way to create market-leading brand perceptions as the #1 trusted, independent location tech leader. We serve as a leading voice that represents the future of location and how Foursquare has led the way in the evolution of location technology. 

We are looking for an individual who is highly organized and can be agile in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll be supporting the comms team with our day-to-day admin to keep the infrastructure of our team strong with a good eye for details, internal comms capabilities, a pulse on the media and ability to produce data-driven reporting based on our metrics of success. This role is for someone looking to grow in their communications career, and the ideal candidate is a dynamic self-starter with an unquenchable thirst to learn. 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide administrative support and assist day-to-day operations of the team, such as keeping media lists up-to-date and team reporting
  • Assist with media relations and maximize media opportunities which includes tasks like vetting earned media opportunities, creating media lists, developing first drafts of pitches, and developing briefing materials for Foursquare spokespeople
  • Monitor earned and owned media results and compiling them into weekly digests
  • Oversee the team’s monthly and quarterly PR reporting for internal and external comms, using PR and marketing software solutions to track our measures of success and produce high-level insights out of the data
  • Support the content communications manager with Foursquare’s social media platforms, such as creating social copy and assets, social listening to improve key executives’ Twitter presence
  • External media relations support
  • Provides updates and reports via measurement tools 
  • Assist with light research for blog posts, e-books, external op-eds, and bylines (determining placements, third-party research, etc.)
  • Own development of company newsletter
  • Oversee the team’s monthly and quarterly PR reporting for internal and external comms, using PR and marketing software solutions to track our measures of success and produce high-level insights out of the data
  • Maintaining speaking engagement calendar 
  • Maintaining awards calendar 
  • Highspot management
  • Tracking competitor intelligence  
  • Collaborate with PMMs to maintain customer marketing approvals database
  • Spearhead internal comms event organization, such as Fireside Chats and Company Meetings, as well as oversee the creation/deployment of internal comms emails 
  • Support Marketo management

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, ideally for or at an enterprise technology company or PR agency focused on tech clients
  • Experience with Marketo 
  • A self-starter with strong time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience working cross-functionally on logistics, content and strategy for internal or external audiences of various sizes
  • Experience writing business communications (e.g.executive emails, blog posts, press releases) 
  • Experience owning multiple deliverables and working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with PR reporting (monthly and quarterly readouts), tracking coverage trends, milestones and opportunities
  • Experience managing basic social media platforms (Twitter and LinkedIn) to create shareable content for employees and educating public audiences on Foursquare’s latest news and updates
  • You seek feedback as opportunities for growth and development
  • A desire to cultivate strong media relationships with journalist and publication representatives
