Corporate Communications Associate

| Greater NYC Area

As a Corporate Communications Associate at Compass, you will join our fast-growing Communications Team and enhance awareness of the Compass brand, mission, values and key business priorities with external stakeholders.

While there is no typical day at a startup in hyper-growth mode, you will report to the interim External Communications Lead and support a variety of storytelling initiatives. Partnering with colleagues throughout the organization, you will activate the Compass narrative across media, speaking opportunities, events, and awards, delivering high-impact results.

At Compass you will:

Build our Corporate Reputation:

  • Identify and secure prominent speaking opportunities for our Leadership team at business, innovation and industry events
  • Develop our awards strategy; drafting and submitting entries for Compass and our Leadership team
  • Support the External Communications Lead on corporate storytelling initiatives
  • Maximize the value of every opportunity by amplifying content across channels

Activate our Media Relations Strategy:

  • Build relationships with reporters and educate them on Compass’ brand, mission, values, and key business priorities
  • Secure positive media coverage for Compass
  • Conduct media research and develop briefing documents for our Leadership team
  • Evaluate and respond to inbound media inquiries

Create Compelling Content for All Channels:

  • Write, edit and proofread pitches, press releases, bylines, fact sheets and other corporate materials (both internal and external) to ensure quality, consistency and appropriate tone

Support our Product and Growth Teams:

  • Research the competitive landscape and leverage insights when providing recommendations on GTM communications strategies
  • Develop press materials and lead media outreach

Measure our Success:

  • Maintain the Communications Team dashboard for internal reporting

What We're Looking For:

  • 2-4 years of experience in PR and communications
  • Optimistic outlook, approaches each new task with enthusiasm
  • Hard worker, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Fast learner, takes on a project and runs with it
  • Integrated mindset, understands both internal and external communications strategies
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Good business judgment, ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot issues and flag challenges
