CRM Developer / Marketing Automation, Lead
We are in the midst of an exciting evolution of email here at Dotdash. In partnership with our Brands, our Brand Marketing Strategist & our Brand Analyst, the CRM Developer/Marketing Automation Lead will be responsible for elevating, re-envisioning and building a best-in-class email development team here at Dotdash. Anything is possible, we just need a visionary who is also passionate about the nuts and bolts of email to help us figure out the future. Are there new tools we should onboard? Do we need an email CMS? What do we need to do in order to capitalize on the opportunities presented by personalization and segmentation?
It will be up to this role to craft, pitch and execute on a vision. This role will lead the HTML development of new and existing emails and email templates, triggered workflows and automated campaigns, testing and optimization, and the migrations of email platforms from new acquisitions into our email stack.
What this role will do:
- Responsible for elevating, re-envisioning and building a best-in-class email development team here at Dotdash
- Lead a team that includes 3 contractors (3 coders) for now with the possibility of building out the team over time
- Lead the vision and development of a robust library of digital marketing assets and templates to enable self-service email creation for marketing managers and editorial teams.
- Develop and tweak fully responsive CSS/HTML email templates and components for editorial emails, sold email campaigns, and website experiences (landing & sign-up pages), including automated and triggered flows, as well as personalized and dynamic content.
- Consult / share best practices for the creation, maintenance and optimization of triggered workflows and automated campaigns across our brands (be the subject matter expert in this area).
- Supervise and execute all technical email migration for new brand acquisitions.
- Build and execute proper list segmentation and triggers.
- Support advanced A/B testing, list uploads, etc as needed.
- Ensure all work produced by your team is in-line with our quality assurance, customer requirements and brand guidelines.
- Manages current and future email tools (e.g. SailThru)
- Works with Brands and Brand Analyst to develop self-serve reporting & to document best practices for analytics and reporting, including structuring, organizing and documenting email data so that it can be accessed and understood by any user (naming conventions, descriptions, platforms, etc)
- This includes working with data operations and commerce to track revenue from commerce initiatives in email.
- Sets, communicates and manages standards for general best practices: manage opt-outs, delete unused data profiles, maintain domain reputation
- Owns and documents best practices for email development
- Build and maintain rapport with stakeholders across the organization
- Helps to shape the direction of this role and future team
What skills we’ll need:
- Strong background in ESPs, knowledge of SailThru helpful but not required
- At least 3 years experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript across email and web
- Strong understanding of adaptive and responsive coding techniques within email
- 3+years of experience developing automated and personalized marketing emails, triggered workflows, and websites for high-volume campaigns across devices and browsers including mobile view
- 3+ years of experience in email marketing and web development for digital marketing, media or advertising
- Experience with A/B testing, audience segmentation and targeting
- Experience working with API frameworks
- Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
- Team player with a can-do, enthusiastic attitude and creative, goal-oriented approach to problem-solving
