The Opportunity:

GIPHY is currently seeking a Director of Communications to join our Audience Team (comprised of Social, PR & Paid Marketing). This person will be responsible for developing and executing an extensive communication strategy to support GIPHY’s roadmap and goals. You will also identify, plan, manage and launch any press moments around product launches, content moments and brand narratives.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and define communication strategies across marketing and comms channels
  • Collaborate & plan with Social team lead on Audience department initiatives
  • Develop quarterly and annual narratives against company goals, including and merging:
    • Key brand/corporate narratives
    • Product launches
    • Marquee content moments
    • Company thought leaders and representatives
  • Research and identify new audiences and publications for our brand message
  • Manage Press Relations agency in helping develop + execute strategies/programs
  • Create and sculpt press assets (EPK's, pitches, supplementary visuals)
  • Identifying, staffing and helping develop GIPHY stakeholders at industry panels, events and conferences
  • Build and maintain monthly comms roadmaps
  • Develop and implement project briefs for all key programs
  • Identify and submit for key industry awards

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years press + communications experience
  • Previous experience within a tech startup or media entertainment company a plus
  • Experience + contacts at marquee tech publications
  • Experience + contacts at consumer & entertainment publications
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with an ability to adopt specific brand voices
  • History of landing stories in digital, print and on-air/broadcast pubs
  • Social media experience a plus
  • Influencer/Talent experience a plus
  • Strong public speaking skills (and ability to train)
