With over $100MM in funding raised to date, we’re now gearing up to expand nationally and looking for an exceptionally talented Director of Communications to join our team and help us build a national brand that will help transform how consumers eat. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of creating history.

Reporting to the VP of Brand Marketing, you will define and drive an effective communications vision and strategy for Freshly, including the messaging roadmap for all external communications. You will be responsible for contributing to raising Freshly’s brand awareness, positioning it as the leader in a new and emerging category and creating a consistent brand position, voice and image in the media. You’ll leverage your pre-existing network and continue to build relationships with the media and with influencers to help amplify Freshly’s message and brand positioning. You will proactively ideate, generate and disperse Freshly's narrative that is creative and consistent across both digital and traditional media channels.

Public Relations: Lead all PR strategies related to the brand and both its reputation and impression on:

  • Customers
  • Press
  • Lifestyle / food and business communities

Corporate Communications: Oversee all communications efforts to:

  • Support the overall company strategy
  • Create positive external and internal brand perception
  • Develop a solid corporate reputation in the industry

Internal Communications:

  • Manage the sharing of Company information with employees.

Strategic Oversight:

  • Work with agency partner to own and manage Freshly's reputation in the media, overseeing and strengthening key media relationships and leading strategy for all Company initiatives.
  • Determine and implement strategy for all initiatives; edit and approve communications materials including press releases, talking points, presentations and other materials.
  • Anticipate challenges and analyze issues that a complex, high-growth organization is likely to face; work with leadership and staff to develop proactive responses to these challenges.

Message Development:

  • Work with leadership team to provide communications counsel and manage executive profiles, including message development. 
  • Develop, implement and execute improved approach and internal processes to share information throughout the Company.

Team Management and Development:

  • Manage external agency partners and vendors, to rally around a shared vision and voice; oversee PR budget.
  • Build and manage internal team of PR and communications professionals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Human Resources, Legal and other key functions to execute initiatives (press releases, presentations) and produce events.

About You:

  • Engaging, inspirational leader and passionate team player with minimum 10+ years' experience in Communications / Public Relations.
  • Experience working for companies in high-growth mode, requiring entrepreneurial spirit, pivot power, prioritization of competing priorities, multi-tasking project management, hands-on development and flawless delivery of programs. Client-side Communications experience a plus.
  • Deep network of strong media relationships across media and influencers to leverage and tell our story in a compelling way.
  • Experience with media relations, event production, issues/crisis management.
  • Ability to simplify concepts and tailor messages for specific audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly creative, innovative and collaborative with a keen eye for identifying and developing high-potential talent.
  • Passion for food and health and wellness a plus.
