Your team:

As our first comms hire and leader, you’ll be working closely with founders and company leaders to build out the Communications function and strategy. Communications and Public Relations are critical to Ribbon because we have a huge untapped opportunity to tell our story and mission to the broader community and rally others around our mission to make homeownership achievable. 

There’s also tremendous business value to raise our profile both publicly for consumers and prospective employees, but also for our partners in the Real Estate Ecosystem--agents, brokerages, lenders, and home builders, amongst many others, especially as we go through hypergrowth.

You’ll be reporting directly to a cofounder, working most closely with our marketing team, and partnering cross functionally with product, go-to-market, and other functions.

How you'll help make homeownership achievable:

  • Create and lead Ribbon’s communications strategy to establish the company’s unique position in the real estate industry as an open platform that empowers the existing ecosystem
  • Lead all external communications, executive communications, and corporate media relations
  • Create and pitch compelling narratives built around Ribbon’s unique stories of helping families achieve homeownership and proprietary data on the housing market
  • Create and execute a communications calendar that aligns launches, initiatives, and corporate milestones with PR opportunities
  • Develop and train spokespeople, and manage press opportunities and speaking engagements for key leaders in the company, not limited to the founders and executives
  • Build relationships with key members of the real estate industry and press
  • Serve as a company spokesperson as needed
  • Manage thought leadership strategy, including monitoring high visibility and business-building awards programs and managing company entries
  • Serve as a strategic partner to leadership on internal communications to support employee engagement and retention

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in-house communications at a technology company
  • Proven experience and leadership in running comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and outreach programs to advance a company’s mission
  • Experience hiring and building out a communications function
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You should be one of the best at this in the company.
  • A knack for storytelling and creating compelling narratives where others may not have the creativity to see
  • Ability and resourcefulness to learn a new, complex domain and product very quickly
