Director of Growth Marketing
Teachable is on a mission to enable the transformative power of knowledge in our world. Our online platform enables individuals and small businesses (our “Creators”) to build, host and sell online courses and coaching. We generate revenue in two ways: (1) from monthly or annual subscription fees (SaaS) paid to us by our Creators for access to the platform; and (2) from transaction fees calculated as a percent of the value of courses and services sold by Creators through our platform. We currently support over 40,000 Creators who have collectively sold over $1 billion in courses and coaching on Teachable.
We’re looking for a Director of Growth & Acquisition, someone who is highly analytical, obsessed with metrics, and knows how to lead and scale a performance marketing function. You will be a critical leader within our Marketing department, responsible for generating leads, acquiring new customers, and converting those customers into profitable subscribers. You will define the strategic vision of paid and growth marketing, with direct responsibility for website conversion funnel and all paid channels (existing and new ones you identify as potential growth drivers), managing a substantial multi-million dollar budget, while continuously optimizing for CaC and LTV, as well as other metrics. You know how to collaborate across teams within marketing, as well as with product, sales and tech teams.
The Director of Growth and Acquisition reports into the Vice President of Marketing and leads a growing team.
What You'll Do:
- Recruit, hire and lead a paid acquisition team responsible for the Teachable website, paid search, social, affiliates and any additional new paid channels that are developed, that meets or exceeds revenue targets
- Responsibly oversee multi million dollar acquisition spend, continuously optimizing for improved CaC and LTV
- Develop reporting that provides transparency in both subscription and budget performance
- Collaborate and experiment with various marketing and growth strategies to improve website metrics, subscription conversion, utilizing strategies such as segmentation, A/B testing, lead nurturing, cross channel and lifecycle marketing
- Define the appropriate mix of campaign elements (search, social, direct mail, email, webinars, events, content syndication, direct response online, etc.), engaging and recruiting prospects to understand the full value of Teachable, and converting to a successful subscription.
- Participate as a key marketing leader contributing to our culture of collaboration and performance orientation
- Determine where to outsource or build in-house various expertise and manage RFP process and agency relationships where appropriate
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years working in a fast paced growth company leading a paid acquisition and growth team, with website ownership; 3+ years in people management experience
- Performance-oriented with a proven track record of meeting/exceeding targets, developing and learning through experimentation, building high performing teams and driving data-driven optimization and investment decisions
- Experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Sigma (or other data and visualization tools) and an ability to learn new platforms and technologies quickly
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work as part of a cross-functional team and willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description when necessary.
