POSITION OVERVIEW:

As Director of Marketing you will help StrongArm Tech craft its story and deploy that story through strategic channels. Your goal will be to strengthen the brand and drive top of the funnel awareness to StrongArm’s FUSE Platform. Your ultimate goal will be to connect prospects to the Sales Team and to fuel revenue growth. You will be a key leader in spreading the word about a technology which can improve the lives of millions of workers.

In this role, you will have to be a high-level, creative and strategic thinker. Strong written skills are a must, as is the ability to hear a story and repurpose it for a variety of constituent audiences. StrongArm speaks to many levels of the value chain and sells an evolving SaaS platform. The ability to simplify a complicated value proposition and create different pieces of collateral which convey that message to will be essential for success.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a marketing and journalism background with experience communicating effectively to a disparate set of constituents.  Beyond creating the vision for content, the ideal candidate knows how to deploy it as effectively across all channels. We are looking for a results-driven worker who knows the best way to convey information, justify decisions internally, and can track towards our expansion. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Brand Development: Ability to audit and assess existing StrongArm brand assets, and then lead go-forward effort to evolve the brand, refine the communications strategy and corresponding materials, and build a set of operational tools.  On-going requirement to test and learn as we progress.

Messaging Strategy: Review, revise and define the StrongArm Tech messaging vision, strategy and framework to effectively drive – endorsement, engagement, interest, excitement, purchase – from the workforce who wear it, and the channel and enterprise partners who buy the technology.

Content Creation: Create targeted content from the stories and insights of customer facing teams; Build resources that speak to the variety of stakeholders that StrongArm serves; drive newsletter, white papers, blog / vlog content and media interaction to drive the publication / promotion of unique perspectives.

Strategic Deployment: Deploy content for maximum exposure while being resource efficient; Implement marketing automation platforms on top of StrongArm’s existing CRM infrastructure; Effectively convey the organizations value to F500 decision makers where they live (media) and learn (conferences).

Internal Communications: Work with the C-Suite to improve media training communications skills and presentations, as well as drive the development, management and delivery of content and new information to the organization.  In order to do this, we will need you to assess and monitor culture / impact.

Public Relations: Work with our existing PR resource to build profile, perception of capability and exposure; 1) to support a Series B starting in February; 2) to put us in front of potential customers; and 3) to address complicated ethical / moral concerns about data collection and use.  We want to lead this discussion.

Digital / Website: Utilizing the foundation that has been built, work with our internal design and development teams to identify opportunities for improving our digital presence and driving better inbound lead management and response times (correlated to sales conversion).  It’s not “broken”, but we can Fix it.

Social Media: Audit our existing social media and marketing channels, along with our – relatively new – content calendar to identify areas of improvement and lead the existing social media team to define and deploy content effectively to drive engagement, web traffic and sales / media inquiries.

Results Minded: Build and lead a team with an eye on spend versus impact; Draw insights from customer and data teams to deliver value to the sales organization; Understand the development funnel and constantly test and learn to improve the impact marketing creates for StrongArm Technologies.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience in B2B / B2C marketing and. / or PR functions
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. retail supply chains and / or CPG industry is desired.
  • Undergraduate degree from top tier institution, Communications / Journalism Masters
  • Exceptional storytelling ability, with diverse, proven expertise in building targeted content
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to inspire others to find creative solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize, and handle multiple assignments
  • Strong design / layout sense and knowledge of best practices to direct our design team
  • Desire to grow responsibilities within the leadership team in a fast-paced tech start-up
