The Role

We are looking for a Product Marketing team lead to join our team as our first Director of Product Marketing reporting to the Head of Marketing. This role will create the go to market plan and the messaging for CockroachDB and identify market opportunities and create alignment with those markets. This individual will work closely with sales, delivering relevant messaging and support materials as well as assisting with messaging and differentiation throughout the marketing team.

• You will execute the product go-to-market strategy and deliver results aimed at achievement of customer adoption/downloads, core user engagement, sales enablement and revenue growth
• You will establish differentiated and compelling positioning and messaging
• Lead product launch process in conjunction with Product Management & GTM teams
• Partner with marketing, product, and sales to create content for collateral, sales tools, sales training and other outbound deliverables and educate internal and external communities
• Intra- and inter-departmental, company and industry responsibilities including market analysis, strategy, solution definition, positioning, competitive analysis, communication, pricing, packaging and promotion of key products and solutions
• Drive product marketing integration with data, channel and product partners
• Lead product marketing initiatives relative to industry analysts, thought leaders, and influencers
• Cultivate and manage product line customer references for sales, marketing, and client services

The Expectations

In your first 30 days, you will assess CockroachDB’s product market fit, competitive space, and acclimate yourself with the database buyer. During this time you will also engage with the Cockroach Labs team understanding your resource pool, learning more about the solution at a hands-on level as well as creating connections in the company.

The next 60 days will be full engagement with the sales team developing a need-gap analysis for sales enablement content, deeper familiarization with the marketing team and their skill sets as well as starting to develop a plan of attack for your role with a focus on prioritizing areas with the most impact for the business.

After 3 months, you'll be fully integrated into the team. While you will continue to deepen your understanding of CockroachDB, you will be setting and implementing priorities for Product Marketing in coordination with the Head of Marketing and the marketing team.

• You have deep experience with and knowledge of marketing solutions, marketing analytics, and campaign performance applications
• You have a strong creative and content creation talents, capable of shaping product messaging, creative communications and compelling content.
• You have a track record of working with influencers including analysts, partners, and category experts
