The Role: 

The Director, Revenue  & Marketing Operations is a core member of our marketing leadership team and will be responsible for all aspects of marketing performance management, technology, operations, and process. With the goal of optimization, you’ll standardize our operations by defining, documenting, governing, and streamlining our marketing processes. As the owner of our marketing data, you will manage data collection, reporting, and refinement to align with our overall business goals. You’ll also manage marketing budgets and inform strategic planning at the department and company levels. You will develop, implement, and maintain the technology stack required to support marketing strategies, working closely with Sales Operations to ensure sales system interoperability. Partnering with Business Intelligence and Data Science teams, you will define marketing performance metrics, deliver dashboards, provide actionable performance insights, and steer the development of lead scoring and propensity models that will be instrumental in achieving Newsela’s business goals. You’ll also be partnering closely with the Chief Customer Success Officer, VP of Sales and Sales Operations team to build a pipeline management practice that spans all demand sources and market segments, establishing the metrics, processes, roles & responsibilities, SLAs and actionable insights that ensure Newsela is achieving its overall pipeline objectives.

You have a proven track record of pipeline, revenue, and marketing KPI performance management. You demand to be involved early in problem definition and scoping for large projects. Your instinct is to keep asking “why”, and aren’t satisfied until you’re at the root of the business requirement, question, or issue. You balance excellence in execution and discipline with pragmatism, speed, and flexibility. You understand technology, but describe yourself primarily as a business leader; you understand how to turn business requirements into system requirements.
