discovery+ Social Media Manager
Overview
Discovery is looking for a Social Media Manager to join the organic social media team for discovery+, our direct-to-consumer streaming service. The role will oversee the organic social strategy for original series, spin-offs of popular network shows on Discovery's cable networks, and titles that air concurrently on Discovery cable networks and discovery+. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned social media manager with a track record of strategizing and executing buzz-worthy social campaigns that drive awareness and engagement, as well as measuring performance and reporting results. The person in this role will foster and maintain relationships with production companies to produce content tailored to social media audiences and collaborate closely with the social team to plan and launch campaigns from start to finish. The ideal candidate is an internet native who has a pulse on digital trends and emerging platforms. Experience managing social strategy for a major media company/DTC streaming service is a plus.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
- Build organic social show promotion strategies for priority titles from greenlight to launch and beyond.
- Work with production companies and showrunners to develop social media content plans.
- Document social strategies and rollout to share with leadership.
- Work closely with the paid teams to optimize social ad content.
- Collaborate with network social teams to align on broader title strategies that span across brands.
- Develop and own performance goals for social campaigns.
- Identify creative opportunities to leverage talent to create social-forward content that will excite and engage our fans and potential subscribers.
- Work with talent management to share social best practices and sharing strategies for each title.
- Pitch innovative ideas for expanding social promotions across new and emerging platforms (Cameo, TikTok, etc.)
- Review and approve all social assets including video clips, photos, post copy, etc. for accuracy, grammar, tone, etc.
Qualifications
What to bring:
- 5 years of experience in social media management for a major brand or public figure.
- Team collaboration - a track record of working closely and smoothly with cross-functional, high-performing teams with different objectives.
- Deep knowledge of social media platforms and the unique differences between each.
- Experience using social media publishing and reporting tools such as Khoros, Hootsuite, Sprinklr or Sprout.
- Impeccable communication skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing digital environment and flexibility to adapt quickly.
- Familiarity with internet trends, lingo and nuances of communicating online.
- A love of pop culture, media and Discovery networks and shows is a plus!
