Meetup brings people together to create thriving communities — something that couldn’t be more important right now in our world, and in the tech industry.

We are looking for an experienced Email Marketing Coordinator for our Marketing team. Reporting to the Email Marketing Manager, your main responsibility will be to work cross functionally to build and deploy email campaigns, automations, and workflows that drive the growth of acquisition, engagement, and retargeting, both domestically and internationally. Meetup’s audience spans members and organizers and this role is essential in delivering touchpoints to them that drive increased engagement and activity along each user’s lifecycle.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Implement the on-time delivery of lifecycle and promotional email campaigns
  • Create and edit email templates within our customer engagement platforms
  • Project manage and coordinate the collection of content for email campaigns that touch across departments
  • Build automations and triggered workflows that will help with the engagement, acquisition, and retention of Meetup’s audience
  • Segment audiences and list management to ensure the right content is delivered to the right audience at the right time
  • Launch measurable A/B and multivariate testing across email campaigns and continually strive for optimizing email campaigns, automations, and workflows
  • Monitor and track metrics on email marketing campaigns and deliver reports and insights to stakeholders
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ideate new email campaigns, automations, strategies, and workflows to help drive increased engagement and activity of Meetup’s audience

You’re our ideal team member if you have:

  • 2+ years of relevant marketing and/or communications experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Hands-on email marketing experience
  • Strong editing and copywriting skills
  • Experience with A/B testing and email optimization for conversion and engagement
  • Ability to create and edit HTML & CSS email templates
  • Deep understanding of email KPIs and complex campaigns
  • Ability to analyze email and web metrics and generate hypotheses
  • Experience with deliverability, inboxing, IP warming, and monitoring (e.g. 250ok)
  • Experience with marketing automation or CRM tools (e.g. Braze, Marketo)
  • Growth marketing/optimization mindset; deeply analytical
  • Understands database segmentation to achieve goals of acquisition and engagement
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to closely manage timelines on concurrent campaigns supporting diverse business goals
  • Dedication to quality assurance; always ensuring campaigns and deliverables go out correctly
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional email initiatives, monitoring their success, and reporting the results to all stakeholders
  • Flexibility and fast thinking, quick to formulate insights and respond to changing business needs
  • Knowledge of Mixpanel and/or Looker or other BI tools is a plus
  • Experience in a startup environment is a plus
  • Experience marketing a b2c/b2b subscription product is a plus

You should also be highly collaborative (comfortable with autonomy but great with teams), comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities, and highly aligned with our mission and values.

Our team is bold, supportive, and passionate about bringing people together in real life to create community for everyone. We care about moving fast, real-world change, and building diverse, dynamic teams. You in?

An Insider's view of Meetup

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Meetup promotes a healthy balance and respect around work life, personal life, and family life. It's not simply policy but instead, the culture that lives with all employees (managers and leaders included). Work happens during our traditional business hours.

What does your typical day look like?

As an engineer at Meetup, my mission is to build things that help product teams focus on our users and develop our product faster and with better quality. My team mob programs or pair programs by default, which works great for us because it increases code and architecture, knowledge sharing, focus, productivity and team bonding.

How does the company support your career growth?

I created my own professional development path by participating in the Employee Resource Group and Diversity & Inclusion council. Participating and organizing these company initiatives allowed me to stretch my leadership muscles, understand the value of empathizing with my colleagues, and appreciate the ability to use my voice to influence change.
