As the Head of Brand Communications, you will be a part of the core Flamingo leadership team responsible for building a new disruptor brand and reshaping the narrative for a new bodycare brand. 

The Head of Brand Comms will be the ultimate developer and custodian of our brand out in the world. In a hyper-competitive category, we aspire to create breakthrough work that provokes a new way of how people think about body care. We’re seeking a leader that can get emotionally invested in building a brand that moves the industry forward, speaking in a real way to today’s EI. 

You will further our mission through the creative expression of the Flamingo brand.

We have started to lay the groundwork for what this brand can be and where it can go.  Now we seek someone who is excited to build this vision with us.  Someone with impeccable and disruptive taste, who wants to build a brand that is both fresh and substantive.  

Coming in from the beginning you will bring the brand to life, taking our early brand foundation and developing a cohesive voice across channels.  You will lead the development of breakthrough brand narratives and communication campaigns that help introduce us to the world and create a deep relationship with our consumer, bringing these stories to life through advertising, digital and physical touchpoints.     

You will bring our brand to life in a way that drives the change we want to see in the world. We want to align our creative expression with our social mission.

You will help establish our creative culture, building, leading and inspiring A+ talent, and guiding external partners in creating amazing work. You will work closely with leaders across Design, Marketing, Digital, and Retail fostering a collaborative work environment and shared sense of building.  

What you will accomplish:

  • Establish brand aesthetic and voice
    • Take initial brand identity work and positioning work a brand voice that resonates with our consumer
    • Create medium specific guidelines, ensuring consistent application of the brand internally and externally
  • Create breakthrough storytelling & campaign development:
    • Create break-through narratives that deliver outsized share of voice, ignites a conversation with our target consumer, drives awareness & interest in our brand, in our mission and positions us as a fresh and craveable brand with a distinct point of view.  
    • Lead the development of these campaigns (ideas and execution) working both internally and with agency partners to bring ideas to life
  • Build a communication function that scales with our business
      • Understand our business goals
  • Recommend communication strategies that support our growth levers
  • Recommend and drive our communication channel strategy and media buy
    • Guide us on the optimal process for creative development
    • Establish strong, collaborative working relationship with the rest of the organization ( R&D, Retail, Digital)
    • Build, lead and develop A+ communication team to support brand development  (copywriter, graphic design, packaging design, social/influencer, PR)

  • You are dialed into what’s cool, new, and relevant and how to translate that to our customer

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • 10+ years brand marketing experience
  • Comms team management experience
  • Strong, proven leadership skills and highly developed interpersonal skills to lead and manage a team
  • Strong communication skills along with the ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Great taste and design chops. The ability to drive compelling brand campaigns and multichannel marketing concepts
  • Experience managing and leading teams in a fast paced and cross-functional focused environment with shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • A real interest and understanding of the woman we want to speak to and our more gender neutral
