theSkimm makes it easier to live smarter. The sales and marketing teams at theSkimm are made up of experienced, resourceful, creative, scrappy hustlers. We pull out all of the stops to get sh*t done. We’re seeking someone who’s energetic and experienced to lead our event strategy. They’re ready to jump in, think outside of the box, and build creative, never before seen (or attended) events.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You’re creative, organized, and can work your way around a problem. You understand the event marketing space and the brand story of theSkimm. You’re in charge of executing on theSkimm’s event strategy that will involve marketing events, Skimm’bassador events, press events, and more to drive brand awareness, engagement, and revenue. You’ll also work directly with sales to execute on revenue generating, co-branded events. Nuts and bolts of the role include:
- Responsible for delivering best in-class, innovative, and never before attended events from start to finish
- Executing multi-channel events that include both live and digital experiences
- Build a framework for revenue-generating events that arise during the year with an ability to manage client needs and objectives alongside project profit margins
- Responsible for financial forecasting, developing multi-year plans, and managing to annual budgets
- Providing leadership and managerial oversight for events including facility utilization, budget planning, marketing strategies, contract administration and customer relations fo all events executed by theSkimm
- Meeting with brands and clients to discuss ongoing and future opportunities
- Working with the sales and marketing teams to investigate, evaluate, and pitch new event opportunities
- Collaborating with internal teams, including Design, Editorial and Sales
WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS
- 10+ years of event experience and/or experiential marketing
- Previous experience in building events for brands
- Experience with revenue generating events from conferences to experiential events and dinners hosted by theSkimm
- Familiarity and enthusiasm for theSkimm, our products, and the utility we offer
- Have exceptional attention to detail while still working under tight deadlines
- Manage a budget across all lines of business
- Strong leadership, analytic, and strategic planning skills
- Experience working with vendors and managing event execution from start to finish
- Collaborative and team oriented approach
- A self-starter, with the ability to handle stressful situations and think creatively to solve problems
WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART
- Experience working with marketing, sales, and design teams. To bring events to life
- Have experience working directly with brands and building events tailored to reach specific KPIs
- Experience with digital, mobile, video, and experiential event marketing
