Manager, Paid Social Media

Birchbox is looking for a Manager / Paid Social Media with 4+ years experience in Paid Social planning and execution to join our Performance Marketing Team. This multifaceted position will focus on reaching and engaging consumers in the Birchbox brand experience across existing and emerging Paid Social Media channels through strategic and tactical duties.

You will report to VP Performance Marketing and manage the Senior Associate, Paid Social Media.

  • Curious, precise, digitally savvy and passionate about nurturing, improving and growing Birchbox’s Paid Social Media footprint as a part of the larger Performance Marketing efforts;
  • Is a change agent and adaptable; interested in growing as part of the larger Performance Marketing / Birchbox team;
  • Passionate about the role that Paid Social Media can play in overall Marketing strategy;
  • Has excellent writing skills and a keen visual eye;
  • Has an analytical mindset and believes in the importance of tracking Paid Social Metrics in the platform(s) and utilizing data to make informed decisions;
  • Always on top of the latest Paid Social trends and platforms changes.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Strategize, create, optimize and execute Paid Social Media
    • Own Paid Social Media tactical strategies / programs from ideation to execution within each of the Social platforms; optimize existing programs to deliver best / forecasted result
      • Partnering with Marketing Managers (both performance media and content) on the best way to connect strategic vision to tactical output
    • Collaborate with internal teams to strategize Paid Social Media alignment with our marketing calendar; contribute to briefs (in support of task owners)
    • Provide an expert perspective on the tactical formats / specs across Paid Social Media channels that should be part of each campaign / program
    • Oversee / Assist with QA of live Paid Social Media ads
    • Manage expectations of key stakeholders by communicating clearly and reliably
    • Accountable in collaboration with Marketing Managers (both performance media and content) to achieve functional business results
    • Act as main point of contact for Paid Social Media vendor and partner relationships
  • Support smart reporting and data-driven decision making in partnership with Finance, Planning & Analytics
    • Set and track in platform KPIs that are predictive of overall media performance
    • Pace to approved budgets & forecasts as set by FP&A (finance, planning & analytics) and VP of Performance Marketing
    • Support Sr Associate and/or Associate with invoicing (Media Planner provide final approval)
    • Oversee / Assist with Paid Social Media reporting (Media Planner to provide final approval)
    • Oversee / Assist with special project needs on an ad hoc basis
  • Be a valuable and collaborative member of the overall Marketing team
    • Collaborate with Social/Content team and Creative team to ensure they are educated about Paid Social Media best practices
    • Facilitate Paid Social Media best practice training from key partners (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc)
    • Play an impactful role in developing cross team relationships and external partners
    • Collaborates and contributes innovative ideas to the broader team efforts
    • Collaborates and contributes to team strategic planning process
    • Keeps abreast on news and trends related to function
    • Maintain a high-touch relationship with Paid Social Media marketplace to inform and learn from best practices by partner while overseeing progress and performance

Core Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Paid Social Media; agency background preferred
  • Excellent understanding of Paid Social platforms, audiences, tactics and digital trends
  • Comfortable navigating strategic, creative and analytical responsibilities
  • Comprehends both direct and brand marketing principles and strategies
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Independent yet communicative and team-oriented
