Role Overview:

You’ll be the “go-to” media expert for a pod of sales individuals as well as for clients, tackling quality control for all client media planning and partnerships, overseeing and collaborating with peers on daily projects, and artfully creating media strategy and translating it into smart client media plans. The role is central to the pre-sale process and as well as the post-sale process.

This role is a managerial one and interfaces daily with multiple teams including Sales, clients, and product/platform teams; candidates must possess excellent communication skills as well as familiarity with the technical aspects of online advertising. This individual should embody the three core values of the Brand Connections team at VICE across all responsibilities continuity, proactivity and ingenuity.

Responsibilities (Included but not limited to the following:)

  • Develops actionable, integrated media strategies proactively and on behalf of requests, collaborating (upwards) with the Assoc. Director and (downwards) with the Strategist, in support of sales team
  • Manages the creation of strategies and a high volume of pitch material for multiple clients
  • Takes full ownership of the media pitch process by facilitating the completion of tactical media plans
  • Ensures clear communication of plans and strategies both internally to sales and externally to clients
  • Ability to apply insights -- sources the most relevant audience and platform insights and applies them to a given pitch in a way that justifies the overall recommendation
  • The primary overseer of the post-sales process for all applicable programs, leading the implementation process and protecting the revenue generated from sales by proactively optimizing to create a positive client experience
  • Stewards the entire implementation process to create a smooth process for clients - ensuring accuracy of IO’s, facilitation of custom ads and the trafficking process with Ad Ops to ensure a timely launch
  • Oversees collection of tags and assesses to ensure accuracy
  • Closely and proactively monitors campaign pacing and performance with the Strategist to proactively uncover and make optimizations with clients
  • Manages, with Media Strategist, all reallocation and make good requests proactively
  • Leads client kick-off and status calls regarding campaign performance
  • Leads internal status meetings to raise and avoid any potential campaign and/or client issues
  • Ability to conduct brand study analysis, viewability analysis, audience analysis
  • Facilitates the creation of wrap-up reports with the Analytics team to drive client retention
  • Along with the relevant sales reps, act as the primary media contact for all client communication, developing a positive rapport and deepening relationships.
  • Responsible for managing 1 – 2 direct reports - providing feedback to foster a positive working relationship that ensures growth and upward mobility

Skill Set & Qualifications

  • Proactive
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of online media and/or advertising experience preferred
  • Managerial experience is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong work ethic and has the ability to adhere to speed, accuracy and responsiveness thresholds
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities, duties and projects in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in client relationships, services and presentations is a must
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and an exceptional organization skills
  • High aptitude for managing expectations
  • Solutions Oriented: propensity to solve matters rather than dwell on the problem at hand
  • Authenticity, Integrity and Resiliency: takes pride and accountability for the work Informed: curious and interested in media industry news and literature
  • Collaborative: happy and willing to work with others to create the best possible solutions
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with platform tools such as DFP, comScore, YouTube Analytics, Google Analytics, and Facebook Insights is a plus
