About You:

SmartAsset is looking for a Public Relations Associate to join our growing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with internal teams, including Editorial, Data and Design, to help produce unique, data-driven studies that focus on consumer-related personal finance and wealth management topics. 
  • Identify relevant media contacts for outreach and establish ongoing relationships.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media contacts and influencers.
  • Develop compelling pitch copy for each data-driven study and secure media coverage. 
  • Coordinate and staff interviews with reporters, as well as prepare and brief spokesperson(s).
  • Monitor, track and analyze SmartAsset’s online media coverage. 
  • Follow the news cycle and identify media opportunities for relevant SmartAsset spokespersons.

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of public relations experience, either at an agency or in-house.
  • Must be very organized with great attention to detail; able to juggle multiple projects with different deadlines.
  • Experience conducting ongoing media outreach, preferably to business, tech and consumer media.
  • Strong writing skills, creating newsworthy pitch copy that ties into current events. 
  • A love for the news media and an interest in personal finance and wealth management.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (GMail, Sheets) and Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel).
  • Social media and basic SEO knowledge.
