Skillshare is hiring an outstanding Social Media Manager to join the Germany market team. This is a one of a kind opportunity to think big, have outsized impact, and define how the Skillshare voice shows up in culture and conversation. In this role, you will be the champion of our organic social, developing and implementing a bold, thoughtful, and world-class strategy across newly created social media channels for this market. This is a cross-functional role, working closely with the International, Brand Marketing, Creative, and Growth teams, contributing to paid social strategy in alignment with marketing campaign objectives, and reporting into the Germany Market Lead.


We are excited about you if you are an experienced social media marketer who has created best-in-class social strategies for a growing or established brand either in-house or at an agency. You have a pulse on the most up-to-date social trends and the shifting cultural landscape. You have an understanding of what content hits on what platform, experience with community management, and you feel energized by testing, growing, and evolving our social presence.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, implement and manage social media strategy and plans for Germany and DACH, aligning with the Skillshare brand and global marketing strategy
  • Work with the central brand marketing team to create a local market social media calendar across platforms
  • Adapt/create, manage, and optimize all social media content and ads (i.e., boosted posts) for the local market - this includes translating copy from English into German, copywriting captions, and visuals/videos (using Canva)
  • Ensure brand consistency in creative, based on global brand guidelines and in coordination with the global creative team
  • Schedule and publish content based on editorial calendar 
  • Drive growth and engagement on social media platforms with community management (daily engagement with posts and direct messages) and outreach
  • Own analysis, reporting/tracking and communication of KPIs and develop plans to adapt/optimize
  • Manage social media budget, boosted posts, and ads to drive reach/awareness
  • Stay on top of local market trends, social media best practices/technologies (with help from central marketing team), and market moments to develop winning brand presence in the market
  • Engage in active social listening, analysis, and reporting for community growth, engagement, site traffic, and overall customer sentiment to develop insights and recommendations for our audience and accounts

Why we're excited about you

  • You are experienced in developing social media strategies, developing editorial calendars, engaging in social listening, and getting cross-team buy-in on plans and projects. You have experience working with Facebook and Instagram.
  • You have experience boosting posts, running social Media Ads, including A/B testing, and optimizing ad cost.
  • You are highly proficient in developing and editing social content in Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, iPhone photography, or equivalents, with an eye for creativity. Graphic design experience is a plus!
  • You are a resourceful and creative storyteller (particularly in the short form), with innovative ideas for reaching audiences
  • You are bi-lingual in English and German and comfortable with translations if needed
  • You have strong verbal/written communications
  • You have strong organizational and time management skills and are able to handle multiple priorities
  • You have a strong understanding of marketing and business strategy
  • You have a general fluency in: Google Drive, Airtable (or similar project management tools), Sprout/Later (or other social listening tools)
  • You are passionate about learning and have a strong culture and values fit with Skillshare
  • Experience in edtech space is a plus.
