Position Overview:

Rent the Runway is seeking a Social Media Marketing Manager to join our growing Brand Marketing & Editorial team. Your mission is to effectively communicate the Rent the Runway brand, products and services across all social channels through original editorial and multimedia content to service a growing social audience. You are a strategic and creative thinker who will plan and optimize creative programming for Rent the Runway’s social channels that meet the editorial, marketing, and advertising goals of the brand while overseeing long-term growth and creative strategy.

You will develop content and franchises for social channels focused on fashion, style, subscription, community and our brand, ultimately creating more RTR fans and customers. Immersed in industry news, social marketing, fashion and cultural happenings, an essential component to this role is communicating the RTR brand and products in an authentic way that will engage today’s modern, hyper-connected consumers. You will report to the Director, Brand Marketing & Editorial, and will work closely with the Fashion, Merchandising, Styling, Growth, Engagement, PR and Creative teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee social media strategy to align with business goals and brand growth
    • Monitor Rent the Runway’s brand and build brand awareness on social media
    • Lead content strategy and execution across social channels including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and our paid social channels
    • Build social editorial calendars and cross-channel publishing schedules
    • Develop original franchises that bring our brand strategy and fashion POV to life
  • Manage social media content, campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
    • Optimize and maintain company pages within each social media platform
    • Generate, edit and analyze content (original text, images, video, graphics, etc.) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to rent
    • Write original social copy and work with internal partners for creative assets
    • Curate user-generated content in line with the moderation policy
    • Communicate with followers and partner with Customer Experience to ensure timely responses
  • Optimize social channels to increase the visibility of RTR social and brand content
    • Improve organizational development aspects that improve content
    • Analyze social data, insights and best practices to ensure best-in-class strategy, and tweak as needed
    • Compile reports for management showing results (ROI) on a consistent basis
    • Propose new features to develop brand awareness, such as social promotions
  • Become an advocate for RTR in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
    • Stay up-to-date with current social media technologies, trends, design tools and apps
    • Attend events on behalf of Rent the Runway as brand representative

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of experience in digital marketing or media, social media strategy or content strategy for a fashion, retail or lifestyle brand
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios with creativity
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing, presentation and communication skills
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with strong organizational ability
  • Exhibit the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, with the ability to demonstrate why your ideas are analytically sound
  • Experience working with and developing a cross-channel marketing plan
  • Understanding of graphic design principles, with a strong brand aesthetic
  • Experience as a brand manager on social media a plus
  • Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social”
  • Maintain a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics

  • Think strategically, act tactically: Create broader strategic goals, and break down the tactical executions and steps that need to be taken in order to achieve the goals; you get it done and have fun while doing it

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
