We're hiring a Social Media Producer.
About our team and what we'll build together
We're hiring a full-time Social Media Producer to expand our brand presence and engage our audience across social media platforms. Reporting to our Director of Social Media, this role is responsible for bringing our content verticals (news, money, health, career, and lifestyle) to life on social, as well as creating social-first video and helping to foster and grow our social audience. This is an editorial role focused on extending theSkimm's journalism to its social media platforms.
How you'll contribute to our mission

• End-to-end production of social media content including ideation, writing, fact-checking, asset creation, and scheduling
• Posting across multiple social media channels, including on occasional nights and weekends
• Creating assets from existing templates in a timely, thoughtful manner in response to news and/or pop culture moments
• Producing, editing and delivering video assets for Social, including but not limited to TikToks, Reels, and Instagram Stories
• Ideating social-first video franchises and taking the lead from concept brainstorming to final asset through the finish line
• Working closely with video team to understand and implement editing best practices and inform learnings for future content
• Analyzing performance metrics of social content and making recommendations for how to iterate based on the data

You're ready for this! Here's a bit more about what we're looking for

• 3-4 years of social media experience at a news/media company or relevant consumer brand - primarily Instagram with deep understanding of other key platforms (TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
• You have worked in fast-paced production cycles
• You have experience producing and editing video content for social
• You have experience creating visual social assets from templates
• You know how to follow a content calendar and use social media publishing tools
• You understand theSkimm's brand and voice and can communicate its message with consistency
• You are a news and pop culture junkie
• You keep up with the industry and can name the latest memes and TikTok trends
• You are comfortable experimenting and are always thinking of creative ways to tell stories
• You are data-driven and/or have experience growing digital audiences
• You have created social-first franchises (Instagram, TikTok and emerging platforms)
• Familiarity with Figma, CrowdTangle, Instagram Insights, and Asana

What about the office?
This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work. At this time, our office remains closed but it is our goal to open as soon as it can be done safely. We are continuing to closely monitor the state of COVID-19 in NYC and will provide updates to our employees as soon as we have them available.
We will require COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations and will also require additional boosters, and will always follow CDC and NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
