Social Media Strategist
The Role
BuzzFeed is looking for a Social Media Strategist to focus on social publishing strategy for some of BuzzFeed’s most beloved brands: Tasty, Nifty, Goodful, and other lifestyle brands. This position will use data to inform decisions and will collaborate closely with content creators to ensure that our content is being released in the most optimal way across all social platforms.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about social media and lifestyle content — someone who is a data-obsessed team player. You are able to summarize how and why certain videos and links blow up — where did they take off, what makes them special, why are they worth sharing?
This job requires 2-3 years experience running social accounts for a major publisher or brand. This is a full-time salaried position in our either our New York or Los Angeles office.
The Team:
BuzzFeed’s social media team is populated with strategists that are responsible for the growth and sustained success of some of the biggest and most-beloved digital brands in the world. This role would report to the Senior Social Media Strategist and would collaborate with our team of strategists in BuzzFeed’s New York or Los Angeles offices. We are looking to hire ASAP.
You Will:
Plan, implement, schedule, publish videos and links for multiple brands across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and other social platforms
Monitor discussions, posts, and comments across multiple Facebook pages, groups and other social media platforms
Analyze video and link performance on social platforms and deliver feedback to content creators in a digestible and actionable way
Can advocate for and lead projects through collaboration with partners, including executives
Partner with the analytics team to create and perform experiments where results help us refine strategy and improve workflow
Act as an advisor for new projects; a respected specialist to help teams throughout the company crack new content areas and formats
Able to think outside the day-to-day to find creative scalable solutions (i.e.: work smarter not harder)
You Have:
2-3 years of experience working in Social Media for a major publisher or brand
Deep enthusiasm for experimenting with content and strategy to optimize for important metrics
Understanding of the digital landscape and a proven interest in keeping up to date with developments in web platforms and applications
Deep understanding of how videos and links perform on social platforms
Ability to express learnings and share knowledge through writing in an effective way
A motivated and resourceful attitude and an acceptance of an always-fluctuating workload
